Dont worry, at least from the West Ham game and on the club will provide you with free wifi at the game so you can share your match experience with your mates online for free during the game.

Is that right!?

Im aware of the repricing shitstorm they created but didnt know they were bringing the ST final payment date forward to May 28.

Liverpool FC set to roll out free WI-FI network at Anfield

Liverpool FC set to roll out free WI-FI network at AnfieldLiverpool FC is to install a WI-FI network through Xirrus to offer free access in order to better engage with attending fans.

The two-tier 12,000 seat Centenary Stand will be covered by the network, alongside the adjoining corporate facilities, which will offer fans access to share digital content during the match.

This will be the first phase of the roll out, and will be extended in the coming weeks.

The club has explained that the addition of the WI-FI network will allow it to gain insight and feedback from its fan base.

Andrew Robinson, head of digital media and technology at Liverpool Football Club, commented: “Running our own data network based on Xirrus technology means we can provide our fans with a dedicated, robust and high quality experience. The added reliability and performance of high capacity WI-FI over 3G connections will encourage our fans to use social networks like Twitter and Facebook to share their experiences with fans unable to make it to the game.

“A massive driver for this new network is that we can gain more insight into our fans than ever before. Sign-in will be via a one-time registration process using an email address and fans will be encouraged to tell us their likes and dislikes. The technology will allow us to find out what devices fans like to connect with the Club on so we can invest in digital platforms accordingly. We will also find out more about how fans use the stadium and its facilities so we can adapt these to better serve them.

“The experience that we’ve created from day one is something we think fans will get very excited about. We’ll be providing in-match stats, food and drink offers, access to online retail, in-play betting in partnership with Paddy Power and also the ability to engage with a global audience outside of the stadium through social media platforms.

"Specialised high capacity wireless networks will ensure an acceptable user experience for a very large number of concurrent users and devices.”

The network will be available for the first time during Liverpool’s match against West Ham on Sunday 7 April.

Even more dickheads with their mobiles out during the game, half time is when they need to switch it on and not during the fucking match.

Won't bother me after next year, I'm jibbing it off. I've had just about enough.

They're all fucking heart aren't they?

My arl fella won't even use a cash machine as he's such a technophobe, what good is free wi-fi to him? If he's gonna have to pay an extra £80 for his season ticket the least they can do is provide him with a bog that isn't flooded out with piss half an hour before kick off.

Free wi-fi, fucking hell. We're there to watch the game, not sit there tweeting shit from our phones all game, or reading other people's tweeted shit.

They're moving with the times. You might not appreciate it, but maybe the 'younger' generation do!?

I agree that they need to focus more on the toilets, pricing of the tickets and other issues. But I don't see the negative of having wi-fi in the whole ground.

Separate issues.

Wouldn't be surprised if it is for the sole reason of making the annual accounts look better with regards to net debt. If anyone saw my review and forecast of the accounts, I discussed that the new year end came before the ticket renewal date, so the club had not reveived all the season ticket cash, meaning the bank facilites had not been paid down. This change means that won't happen anymore.

Not when they co-incide the launch of it with the sending out of season ticket renewals it isn't. The two issues are not unrelated.

Let’s analyse the Club’s statement.

Mobile phones can already post twitter and facebook messages.

Registration provides 12000 e mail addresses at a stroke.

Anyone can e mail or write to the club now. There is also a fans forum.

In match stats might be good, but a ground with screens could do it even better.

Online retail during the game? No. A bombardment of merchandise offers from the club shop and associates? Yes.

Food and drink offers? If i am in hospitality it has been paid for, if I am not the offer i would like is simply getting served.

Oh, and then there was the in play betting partnership with Paddy Power........................

The selling of the email addresses in bulk to spam senders.

To be fair, most sink users do press the tap with their free hand sometimes.

As for this free wi-fi, it's the greatest selling point ever for the match-going public. I can't think of ONE better thing they could have done than give a free service free for free promotion for an internet service provider at no cost to themselves. It's free-tastic.

Next time I'm at the game I'm bringing my laptop and emptying out the Pirate Bay.

During the week I'm going to sit in the Players Car park and I'm gonna megatorrent that mutha.

Let's see what Xirrus got to say about that

£80 increase with that fucking pole a few rows down from me in the Main Stand still obscuring my view.

Ah well, at least I'll be able to bitch on Facebook about it. Should get me some 'likes', that one.

No its only in the Centenary stand and boxes first but they expect to roll it out to other stands soon.

I kid you not, they were asking (via fan questionnaires) about ordering your half time food via your phone and having it brought to your seat at City. So don't be surprised if this crap turns up at Liverpool too.

It's not happened yet, but the mere fact they asked about it means it's lurking in someone's mind.

It's going to get like Duty Free on a plane soon. A trolley dolly bringing your shirt and scarf pre-wrapped.

Heated seats soon.

People buy food anyway, a delivery service comes with extra cost, the incremental value I would have thought was marginal/dubious.

By contrast betting, from your phone,in the heat of the moment is classic mugs money with considerable incremental value, and little cost. That is where this is going.

I wish that FSG could be as inventive about putting their own money in as they are in taking our money off us.
