  • Liverpool 4 Tottenham Hotspur 2 (May 5 2024)

Well that was better, I suppose. It didn’t feel that way at full time, but on reflection this was mostly good up until both teams made substitutions and the game turned on its head. Thankfully we had a four goal cushion, and thankfully Paul Tierney and VAR chose to ignore a reasonable penalty appeal for Spurs that could have got them back to 4-3. Had that happened, I think we’d have blown it.   There were serious flashbacks to last season when we blew a 3-0 lead to Spurs and then Jota

  • Report: New contract for Van Dijk seen as a priority

Virgil Van Dijk is viewed as an irreplaceable member of the Liverpool squad as they move into a new era according to a new report.   With the appointment of Arne Slot all but confirmed, the next point of business for the key decision makers with the clubs hierarchy is working out who is going to stay and work under the new manager and which players will be moving on.   In recent weeks a lot of the public discussion has revolved around Mo Salah’s future with one prevailing vie

Klopp: This job was never difficult for me because I love working with people

Jurgen Klopp has spoken further about his upcoming Liverpool departure saying that he is having to prepare himself for a quieter life.   The end to German’s tenure at Liverpool is now under two weeks away and  the reality  has now well and truly sunk in for players and fans alike.   Liverpool in the Klopp era have basically won every major honour there is, but more important than that, is the strong bond between manager and fans.   Each party is on the same waveleng

Quansah: How you recover from your mistakes is the most important thing

While the Jurgen Klopp farewell tour will not conclude with ultimate success, that only paints half the picture of this campaign.   At the beginning of the 2023/4 season, the squad was somewhat in a state of flux.   Highly valued and successful veterans had departed and it was universally seen as the right decision as the team needed to progress into a new era, or as the manager termed it ‘Liverpool 2.0.’   While it was an exciting reset, it was also not without ris

That was the Week that Was (Apr 29 - May 3 2024)

Monday Apr 29:   The PL clubs have voted in favour of a kind of spending cap. Both manc teams voted against it, as did Villa for some bizarre reason, while Chelsea abstained. What the fuck are they abstaining for? Anyway, it isn’t confirmed yet as this vote was about agreeing to explore the possibility and there’ll be another vote in June when the proposal is finalised. I haven’t read up on it too much as it feels pretty pointless anyway. The top clubs can spend 4.5 times the amount th

Premier League Round Up (Apr 27-28 2024)

And I thought last week’s round up was a chore. This one just feels utterly pointless now. I;m on the beach with Brighton and West Ham and I'm just mailing it in now until the season finishes. Virtually everything has been decided other than the title, and that hurts too much to even really think about. It’s still too raw after the way we meekly bowed out of the race.   The relegation places are more or less decided. Luton or Burnley still have an outside shot at catching Forest but re

    West Ham 2 Liverpool 2 (Apr 27 2024)

How much worse is this going to get? I had hoped that Goodison would be rock bottom but if anything this is worse. Not because of the result or even the performance, but because of the lack of a bounce back, the drama and the sadness we’re all feeling as everything just falls apart around Jurgen. It’s fucking miserable and for him to be going out like this is just awful.   I’ll get to all the Salah stuff later, but that was just the fly on top of the shit. The performance wasn’t terrib

That was the Week that Was (Apr 22-26 2024)

Monday Apr 22:   So no Amorim then, who flew in for talks today with West Ham. No idea if he’ll end up there or not, don’t really care. Not even sure this is real, feels a bit like a bargaining ploy to try to force our hand. Apparently he’s hired Pini Zahavi to represent him so there’s bound to be some sort of shenanigans going on here. I can’t say I was sold on him for us anyway, so how come I was pissed off when I read that he was now off the table? I suppose it’s because he seemed t
