The Matrix Trilogy

The Matrix was one of the best movies of the 90's for sheer originality and style. When I watched it for the first time I was blown away, which doesn't happen very often. I couldn't wait for the follow ups, which ultimately were a huge disappointment. I really think they should have left it after The Matrix because Reloaded and Revolutions, despite their massive budgets never lived up to expectations. Did anyone like the sequels?

Thought that the first one was pretty good. The other two were appalling. From what I could make out they were just trying to be too clever for their own good.

It's not that often that you get a brilliant trilogy- where all three films are just as good, if not better than the previous ones. Even the Godfather slipped up with the third one.

IMO, at great risk of being torn to shreds, the best trilogy was LOTR.

Maybe because that was already written so they couldn't fuck themselves over near the end. Mine's the Bourne films, easily.

As for Matrix, I was obsessed like you wouldn't believe with the first film, 2nd and 3rd didn't touch it though. Biggest disappointment I've ever had with sequels.

Good shout on the Bourne trilogy. First class set of films that.
