Galaxy Fans Furious at Beckham

He's a cheapskate for not paying more than his fair share? That's ludicrous logic. If he did pay more than his share they'd call him a flash bastard!

That was an absolute no win situation for the guy there, anything he did he would have been called up on. The guy seems alright to me in all honesty, the celebrity they've builty up around themselves is a massive downer but whenever I've seen him in an interview etc he seems to be alright and though he may be very overrated as a footballer you can't deny the medals he's won and the part he's had to play in them.

Donovan is a cunt. Id love for simonlfcgreen to kick the fuck out of Donovan.

Edit: On Beckham, iv never had a problem with him as a footballer or a person. He seems incredibly personable, yeah sure hes enjoyed a glam life but how can you dislike him for that? I've never seen him mention a bad word about our club, despite the fierce rivalry, and I even remember him praising our fans and our support in an interview a few years back.

In stark contrast, Owen seems like a selfish, greedy twat. Obviously i'll always thank him for the great goals he scored for us, but as people, i know which one i'd get on with better.

I can understand why Beckham felt the need to prolong his career by moving to the US. At the time, he was not getting games at Real Madrid, and being ignored by England. Strangely, he started getting selected for Real after he had agreed the LA Galaxy deal. The knock-on effect was Capello beginning to involve him more within the England set-up. Suddenly the player feels he's not a has-been.

Also, having played in the MLS, he realised he needed to be playing in a more competitive environment, hence the Milan loan deal.

The LA Galaxy fans feel they've had their loyalty to him betrayed because he's been half-arsed when he has featured for them. His hearts not in it, yet he's raking it in.

My biggest problem with the whole thing is all the PR fluff about wanting to help take MLS to the next level. His subsequent actions suggest he was only in it for the money, even if that might not be true. A case of the right move at the wrong time.

I'm really not getting the Beckham love in. He signs a contract. A very lucrative contract. Now he wants out. If LA Galaxy are willing to let him go to Milan for a fee, then fine. But if they want him to honour that contract then tough shit, he made his choice and he has to live with it.

And RK, please tell me your not comparing him to Snake Plissken, because that would be a borderline negging offence.

I think the structure of the MLS is set up in a similar way to the NFL where there is a cap on wages, spending patterns. Which since the introduction into the NFL I believe been a huge success in the variety of teams winning the Super Bowl.

Quite rightly I think the LD is fucked off with the likes of Beckham takign a massive % of the clubs wages and then does one to Europe and generally treats the club as a massive PR stunt for him and his wife

BBC SPORT | Football | Beckham confronts fans after boos

Beckham confronts fans after boos

David Beckham was involved in an angry confrontation with Los Angeles Galaxy fans during his first home game since completing his loan spell at AC Milan.

The 34-year-old England midfielder missed the first half of the Major League Soccer season in order to play for the Serie A giants.

And he was jeered by sections of the sell-out crowd during Sunday's friendly which was ironically against Milan.

"The majority of fans have been great," Beckham insisted afterwards.

"It was only one or two that, you know, it was to be expected.

"Sometimes it goes beyond it. I tried to shake one of the guy's hands but he didn't want any of it. That's the way it is."

His charisma is very important for other players. We are really happy with his situation

Boos were louder than cheers as the players were introduced prior to kick-off and every touch from the former England captain was jeered early on by sections of the 27,000 sell-out crowd.

Several fans made their displeasure known with banners and as the players went off at the interval Beckham had to be escorted from the field by security as he walked over to an area of seats to confront jeering fans.

One supporter jumped down and had to be restrained before being taken away.

It marked the end of a turbulent week for Beckham since his return to the United States, who also had to placate team-mates following comments by Galaxy captain Landon Donovan.

The pair met with coach Bruce Arena after Beckham responded to the remarks from Donovan that accused the former Manchester United and Real Madrid player of being unprofessional.

Beckham expected reaction from crowd

The match itself ended 2-2, Beckham doing his talking on the pitch by having a hand in both Galaxy goals.

For the first he played a trademark cross-field ball to Donovan, who then set up Alan Gordon, while for the second, and with Galaxy 2-1 down, it was Beckham's corner that was headed home by Bryan Jordan.

After that he turned to a section of fans who had been particularly vociferous and shrugged his shoulders, while he applauded those fans who had been supportive when he was withdrawn in the 75th minute.

"There's not another player on this team or in this league who can make those kinds of plays," stated Donovan. "That's going to be crucial for us."

Earlier this year, Beckham said he wanted to remain with the Italian club rather than return to the Galaxy.

He also revealed earlier this month he would consider a return to the Premier League because it would improve his chances of playing for England at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

Milan manager Leonardo did not rule out a return to the San Siro for Beckham.

"His charisma is very important for other players," he said through a translator. "We are really happy with his situation."

Beckham played in Galaxy's 3-1 win at the New York Red Bulls during his first game back in the US and with six games of the MLS season remaining his side are third in the Western Conference.

Quite admire the yank fans for this, they're always getting slagged off for not having any real passion when it comes to footy, but some at least give a fuck - good on them. I look forward to the day when Beckham and his disgusting wife are no longer newsworthy.

Xavier looks aboot 40 years old when he played for us.

And it's true that Galaxy fans are furious at Beckham. But Dairy Milk fans are equally perturbed.

A term that comes from American football. It describes a wide receiver who is afraid to catch a ball because he thinks he's about to get nailed in the midsection by an opposing player.

Is it?

I had always thought it was becuase the arms are too short to reach into the pockets...
