hang on, i believe what he is spouting is shite, but if he wants to write that shite, so be it.

The way to counter it is to show by deed that what he wrote was shite?

Not by asking for a photo so you can kick his fucking head in which now has me thinking maybe he has a point

Tubby bitch. He looks like he was thrown out of Tears For Fears about two weeks before they released "Shout" and has never got over it. I bet before he goes to bed every night, he sits down and works out exactly how much he's lost in royalties that day before crying himself to sleep.

One a month he comes over to the UK in order to meet a 47 year old taxi driver called Barry on Hampstead Heath for ten minutes of unfulfilling sodomy.

It's rumoured that he likes to receive.

Regional racism!

Someone says 'nigger' on Big Brother and the whole of the media go fucking metal yet calling us 'filthy scouse scum' is fine!

That is spot on!

"Filthy Scouse scum

Is there anything more tedious than a Scouser?"

Now just replace the word Scouse / Scouser with Paki, Coon or Jew and you would have major political, media and social outcry. However tarring Liverpool people in this way has become acceptable in jounalism and socially.

The thought process behind such comments is based firmly in the same mind set of the racist. Coming from the fear and inadequacy felt by the odious and mentally challanged like O'Doherty. Quite sad that there are O'Doherty's out there so desperate for publicity that they will demean themselves to such a level that they have not a shred of self-respect intact.

That article being published is a disgrace. The guy has obviously only done it to get attention and to make a name for himself but the newspaper should have fucked it straight off.

I wonder what he would say if the Echo or any other English paper printed racist shite like that. I bet he'd be the first crying his eyes out over it.

I'm not up for organising a witch hunt but I get sick and tired of these idiot journalists who think that they can write or say and do anything they want and have no comeback. If he knows that people know his face then he is never likely to have the balls to come to Liverpool because he is probably a coward who hides behind his editor. He might get banned from setting foot in Anfield or be too scared to travel to the city, making his life and job difficult if he is ever told to cover a Liverpool game. Even if he does come to England there are plenty of Scousers dotted around the country.

I don't know why English or any other journalists enjoy battering Liverpool and it's people so much when there are a lot more worse places in Britain to live. I work down south and people who have never been to Liverpool are scared of coming to Liverpool because they think that they will be raped, murdered, robbed or have a pitbull set on them all thanks to the media. The ones who have been here love it and say the people are great and the city is fine.

Like one of the previous posters said, if anyone mutters anything remotely construed as racism there is uproar but its still ok to slag people from Liverpool off

I would have thought him being Irish would cut us some slack as Liverpool has a lot of ties with Ireland.

A few years ago, I remember when I was doing a navvying job in Ireland for a few weeks, I used to get the Irish Independent and found it a really good paper. They had a guy called Vincent Hogan who seemed an out and out red. I remember him having a go at the typical obnoxious, pitiful Mancs who are deluded into thinking they're better than us. I thought it was great.

This guys a wanker but if his Liverpool equivalent wrote these things about Man U then none of us would complain too much.

Yes, but did he call them Manc Scum? No one deserves to be called scum just because of where they come from. If an individual has done something worthy of being called scum, then fine, but even then they shouldnt be called Manc/Scouse/Brummie/Cockney/Geordie Scum - Just Scum.

When I first saw that photo I thought Simon Cowell had been let loose in a pie factory. That headline screams for attention. He's obviously spoiling for a fight to get noticed and move his career forward. I wouldn't bother my arse giving him one.

Some of the rebuke for the article

A red letter day for Liverpool fans

I write in relation to Ian O'Doherty's article 'Filthy Scouse Scum' (Features, June 5).

This filthy piece of incitement penned by your colleague is unworthy of publication and ought to be condemned for the racist slur it is.

The city of Liverpool, (and also Cork), is justifiably proud of its heritage and heroes. It has given the world much in sporting culture in particular and adds greatly to the colour of its nation.

It has been touched by tragedy, now your writer besmirches the memory of those tragedies with his weasel words.

He quotes one sentence from a blizzard of commentary post the Champions League Final.

Such an approach is as unbalanced as it is unjustifiable, lazy and deliberately provocative.

There are no collectives of people without their shortcomings, Ian O'Doherty certainly proves this true of journalists. Your paper owes the people of Liverpool and Cork an apology.

Ray Browne

Ashbourne,

Co Meath.

*********************************************************

* I am writing to you to let you know my disgust and the complete trash that was printed in your paper on June 5.

I am referring to the article written by Ian O'Doherty regarding Liverpool fans.

The use of terms he uses is a complete disgrace.

I would expect this sort childish inaccurate garbage to be found in rags, not in a broadsheet. Although after reading the article I now consider you paper and the other versions of it to be at the same level as the gutter papers like the Sun.

I will never purchase another paper belonging to ye.

And as for who let this be printed in the first place, should have a serious look at themselves as they have let quite a lot of people down.

Pathetic.

Ray Quinlan

I'd imagine a scouser once either stole his potato, rode off on his horse (which he keeps in the house) or made a cutting remark about his hairy cheeks.

And ran over his Leprechaun on his Horse.

Regional racism!

Someone says 'nigger' on Big Brother and the whole of the media go fucking metal yet calling us 'filthy scouse scum' is fine!

It's because we're unique and different, and an easy target. They'res gonna be millions of other people like him, same greasy haircut the lot.

Who are the big team in Cork?Is there any forums over there where we could organise a petition to get this shitehawk sacked?

I'd imagine people from Cork are a bit pissed off as well.

Cork City. I looked but didn't come across any forums heres a link to web-site http://corkcityfc.ie/home.htm

I doubt people from Cork are overly pissed the artical was aimed towards (us) than anything else (im Irish but consider myself an honourary Scouser)

Im all for getting this shite-hawk sacked
