Pretty close half that, they’ve been better but we’re a million miles closer quality wise than we were last season.

Main difference is they’ve been more decisive and clinical in the final third. Also we’ve given the ball away more times than them, which in many cases is how chances are created in matches like this.

Still everything to play for here.

WHAT A LOAD OF FUCKING SHITE.

I'm sorry but that one piss-poor half from us. Fucking brainless all over the park. This is a list of stuff I witnessed that half:

Poor decision making in attack

No one tracking runners

Half arsed pressing

No one putting a tackle in

Ponderous at the back

In short it was fucking abysmal. That Ake dribble wouldn't be acceptable in Sunday league, he walked around three of our players and then VVD and Matip just stand there with the big galoot in the middle of them, he didn't even make a smart run!

Utter shite!!!

We’ve done enough in the first half to believe that we can get something from the game in the second half. A point would do.

An Alisson brain fart aside and we’d be going in level, with an argument that we’d had the better opportunities.

City look very dangerous on the break though, especially if they get in behind our midfield and make it 3 on 3, 4 on 4 etc.

Some of our attacking play has been poor though. The wrong decision. The wrong pass. Or just no decision and letting City win it back. We should just have a pop a few times and see what happens. A wild deflection could benefit us or anything.

I’d stick with the 11 out there for the first 20 of the second half. Jota and Núñez would be the two I’d consider taking off. Not right away though. Jota is doing alright going forward and is helping out Tsimikas a lot when City attack. Núñez has been offside a bit too often and quite indecisive. But he offers a good out ball on the counter.

Stick with that for a bit then consider introducing Gakpo and Diaz. I’d also like to see Elliott getting some minutes. In form and would be ideal for that advanced midfielder role that Jones seems to be playing.

Looking at the positives we've cut through their midfield well a handful of times, it's like they get to the final third and forget what they're supposed to be doing.

A glance at the bench shows we've got some players that can give us a bit more of an edge going forward, hopefully Jurgen can make some early subs.

He makes plenty of runs, we're just not hitting them quick enough, giving City time to get back. Jones and Macallister seem to want too long on the ball. I'd replace both at half time for Gravenberch and Elliott.

Gravenberch especially always looks to play progressive quick passes.

Yes, that's right, it's not as if he's quite good at it. He'd be shite against your Sunday league team, I bet. You'd have him in your pocket, whilst your mates score six against the rest of these shite oil-rich league champions. That's what's so soothing on here - the refreshing sanity.

I fucking played at a high level mate and I know about executing tactical setups.

That 11 out there were scared shitless, which is why we didn't do anything to get a foot in the game. Don't be one of these fucking fence sitters, demand more. These guys are not fucking amateurs.

Think Trent has also been excellent defensive so far. Gomez gets done sometimes with the leg inside. He's just not expecting Ake to dribble him

Can’t agree about Trent. Along with Dom was stood watching Ake, yes Nathan Ake, waltz between them for the City goal.

Are you for fucking real? he's up against elite pros and he walked around them without them putting in a challenge. You fucking whopper.

I still can't get my head around why Diaz didn't start, he seems exactly the type of player in a game like this that can move quickly and with skill to create chances for us, or score himself. If some of our players seemed to lack confidence or have fear I don't think Diaz would've had any of that.

Maybe I'm biased though, for me Diaz makes up in some ways for the lack of Mane and I think he's one of our most important players. I thought he'd have been picked for this game.

The travel and the emotion of seeing his dad might have been quite draining. I'm sure we'll see him.

We are fortunate they’re not out of site - get Jones off for Gavenbach or Elliot at half time - won’t happen mind.

They’re fortunate we haven’t scored from a couple of good chances and multiple dangerous moments.

Think Klopp said one of him and Nunez would start because of the south American thing
