You don't benefit in learning how to be a midfielder in our system which Elliott still has a lot of work to do in by playing in the front 3 in our system.

His lack of pace makes him not a great fit for our front 3 too.

I just don't get this sort of stuff. People have an unending respect for Klopp, but then will say Jones is stunted and should have a free attacking role, or question what he's doing with Elliott.

If you don't like or trust what Klopp does player-development wise, basically his top expertise, why would you want him to be manager?

Talk about making a mountain out of a mole hill.

It's as clear as day that Elliott playing in front 3 tonight is a forced choice as opposed to part of some masterplan about his development.

If Doak was fit Elliott would be in midfield - the position he is being developed in and where the manager clearly sees his future.

But the need to protect Salah and Gakpo only just back in contention plus the aforementioned Doak injury means Elliott is shoehorned into front 3 - a position he has never really shone in for us.

If you think it's forced, why are you even complaining about it then?

Hardly complaining - I just said don't really like him there as he has never shone there for us and i'm not convinced he ever will and as i have said i don't think it really helps him when on Sunday he might start or be asked to come on as a midfielder.

It is more about the scarcity of his playing time as a part of the front 3. So whenever he does come into it he looks largely lost.

He's a kid learning still and he is mostly being asked to learn how to be midfielder and do so with pretty limited mins....To ask him to them start as a forward is a big ask for the kid IMO.
