I think the phrase rhymes with Clucking Bell.

So some no mark who was plying his trade at Bristol Rovers last season is now seen as a possible answer after 10 minutes at Newcastle? The lowering of expectations is now complete.

He is a 20 year old and highly thought of, I get your point but a bit harsh.

Fair enough.

Still think Ferguson was talking out his arse btw. Sterling, Suso, Wilson, Kent, Canos, Robinson, Coady, even Wisdom - although he should have done better. If you have the talent, you'll get a chance to build a career via our academy these days. Outside of a few bad examples (and we certainly tried with Ibe) Inglethorpe is one of the best out there.

Don't think he's saying he would have a career just he'd be stuck being loaned out or sold on. More kids need to do what he has and go somewhere with a quicker route to first team games. He'd be nowhere near the starts he has if he'd joined us. He'd be on loan sonewhere

Yeah, our club is famous for not giving young strikers opportunities.

Was Ferguson even born the last time we did?

There's a far bigger list of young strikers that didn't make it in the last 20 year (although granted most weren't good enough) from the likes of Pongolle, Nemeth, Yesil and Pacheco all the way up to Glatzel etc.

Maybe. Its just the revisionary nonsense you get in here. At the start of the window we needed 3 midfielders and a cb. Then we lost two first team dm players on top of that.

Most people complain about Nat Phillips who did a sterling job of seeing us to a third place finish in the league and how he, Gomez and matip are not good enough, but this new guy whose only on the bench because of our shitty transfer business should be given a chance. Its unbelievable.

Rumours today that a Saudi team are going to bid €150m for Salah but it's only €100m with €50m in not guaranteed add-ons. That's not even half of what would be enough to contemplate selling, and that's if it had been made in June.

Fucking cunts

Pongolle that got 65 first team appearances for us?

So the players who have all gotten first team chances recently didn't count and nor do the ones earlier? If he was comparing himself to Samed Yesil then he clearly wasn't ready. Regardless, none of those were discarded by the club, like the meat grinder he was suggesting.

Finally Glatzel has been incredibly unlucky, nothing to do with a failure on the academy's part. You'll be making out we're at fault for Bobby Duncan listening to his agent next.

In terms of what he was slated to be, but you're right, I'd put Pongolle and Baros in a separate category of players given a chance but who never really fulfilled promise.

I’d seen a suggestion that it was £80m and £50m add-one. Either way, it’s a firm pass.

It’s not revisionary. It’s changing of opinions based on changes in circumstances.

Most of us likely had very limited opinions on Quansah in May. Hes played for England, did well at Bristol Rovers, other than that he was a complete unknown quantity. He’s looked decent preseason and did well yesterday.

Although I think we’d all be happy for him to be around the squad getting minutes here and there, nobody is saying we still shouldn’t sign a centre back.

I could argue saying we needed 3 midfielders, which we signed, and now wanting 4th is revisionary. It’s not though, it’s changing opinion to meet changing circumstances.

I think most agree mate and it is nonsense at times.

Gravenberch maybe off to the mancs on loan with McTominay on loan to Bayern

I'd much rather Kone than him to be honest. Seems a crying fuck who just wants guarantee of playing time and no fight

McTominay wont be Bayern quality player as long as he has a hole in his arse.

He’s not a Man Utd quality player either.

This would be the most random transfer since Gravesen signed for Real Madrid.

He'd have to get past Nunez,Jota and Gakpo. Bit different from Owen getting in when we only had Fowler and Collymore or Robbie even earlier.

Let's not even pretend he's at Owen or Fowler levels either

I don't think he is, but plenty seem to.

Athletic:

Liverpool would still like to sign another multi-functional midfielder, but their search for a defence-minded No 6 is now over— If another central player who can mix guts and guile is sourced, then @LFC will be satisfied with their business. Bayern Munich’s Netherlands midfielder Ryan Gravenberch has been
admired for some time and Liverpool continue to monitor his situation. Adding further competition and protection in defence is another consideration but may be addressed in future windows.
