That's simply not true. We had a bid of over £100m accepted for a player as confirmed by the selling club. It's silly to suggest we don't want a top class defensive midfielder or that we are not prepared to pay for that right player.  Lets keep the conversation to the real world about the idea of just getting bodies in at this point.  I think that's a bad idea.  Similar to when we fucked up the VVD signing and didn't just panic buy but waited a window, I'd rather we waited until the next window or two and got the right player Klopp actually wants.

There are 3 parties in a deal to sign a player, not too. We could have bid 1bn and he still wouldn't have come here, because he wanted to go to Chelsea. The bid was no more real than when Everton bid for shearer all those years ago and we laughed at them. Klopp even told us the next morning when he acknowledged the bid had been accepted "whatever that means".

Will he get more opportunities here? Surely he'd have a similar seat on the bench.

You're not dropping Mac Allister or Szoboszlai for Gravenberch and he's not going to get a consistent run in the #6 so for a player who's wasted a year and needs to play it would be an odd move.

He needs a move where he can be a big fish in a small pond or his career will go the way of someone like Renato Sanches.

We risk running Mac Allister and Szoboszlai into the ground, though. Thiago and Jones are already confirming all our old prejudices about their availability, which only leaves Bozza (also coming back from injury) and Elliott.

You're not wrong from the Liverpool perspective,  that doesn't make it a good move for Gravenberch though, he's on that developmental edge now where the next move has to be right, he needs to play majority of games under the right manager.

Maybe Klopp's apparent willingness to go for Gravenberch over anything else will mean he get's that development/playing time, but from the players point of view it's a risk given the players in front of you.

Kone looked the best fit for me, but that seems to have gone a bit cold.
