  1. I have been asked by my headteacher to deliver assemblies to every year group (11-18) in my school next week about Hillsborough. I am but a humble History teacher so this is a big honour/responsibility and many of the pupils I teach (NW Midlands) have either no knowledge of this or are flippant about the whole thing. So far I'm thinking of two different assemblies. To 11-14 year the theme will be the power of the individual (Dalglish/families)- that achievement and attainment in life is nothing if you fail in adversity. To the older kids (15-18) the concept is Truth and Justice and it explores the justice/truth campaign with the message that they must be critical thinkers in a world where media/police/legal system is not infallible. Has anyone got any good ideas for resources I could use for this, and even any suggestions on how to maximise the impact/message? Cheers.
  2. I liked the bit where he talked about having 'no money' and travelling for months on end to prepare himself for the future. That connection to the fans and to the people is real and is something that is missing from many footballers today. Stevie for example has probably been a multi-millionaire since he was 20, he's not really 'one of us anymore'. Rodgers is.
  3. They must have not read Henry's letter about the importance of FFP...
  4. If the naming rights are sold, it will only be for a new stadium. That is the positive legacy of the fight to rid the club of the previous regime. What happened at St James' Park could never happen here as they know the organisation is there to bring the club to it's knees in protest. Therefore it may make financial sense to build new stadium when those rights are sold.
  5. The people getting the money are the French gov't- 75 percent of tax over 1 million! That's something like 80 percent of Ibra's wages- Vive la revolution!
  6. A complete piss take that a member with 11 games is treated the same as a member with none. Common sense will never prevail at LFC.
  7. Some serious revisionism going on here. Plenty slagging off Kenny (rightly or wrongly) only a few days ago are now outraged at his sacking. Our own fans show plainly what football has become.
  8. But the pattern is then Reina-Carra-Reina-hoof it just doesn't work. Pep has now become the hoofer, this has been one of the most apparent changes since the start of the season. don't even get me started on Carra's little hop skip and a jump every time he passes the ball!
  9. I was sitting in the kop yesterday and at some point in the second half carra got the ball on the right hand side of defense, as he passed the ball I angrily shouted 'NO CARRA'. It was only time he DIDNT pass the ball back to Pep. This time it was a 3 metre pass to Martin.
  10. Just sent... I am a keen supporter of UAF and have attended events and spoken openly and frankly in my position as a teacher about the issues you confront. However on reading your recent statement concerning 'Liverpool Football Club' I sadly cannot continue to support your organisation. Fascism comes in many forms, and those of us who have closely followed this case would strongly refute you claims. I will not go into the myriad of legal, systematic and moral objections that have been made (though sadly never on an 'official' level) but merely suggest that if UAF wish to spend their time speaking openly about a case in which a mixed race South American football player was found 'probably guilty' of racial insult then clearly UAF and I no longer agree on the definition of 'fascism'. I hope in time one us is given the opportunity to see the error or their views, though the 'fascist' nature of the Football Association, their 'impartial hearings' and of course the 'free press' sadly means we both shall be frustrated.
  11. And what could that be?! Nobody else has suggested this from what I've heard.
  12. I heard this live-he has been quite critical of Liverpool recently and definitely seemed like he had changed his stance. However he was talking about the report and if there was a silver bullet in there, surely someone would have spotted it by now.
