January 2023 Transfer Thread

There was an interesting line in some report a few months ago that stated that the Mancs spent their 2023 budget on Casemiro and Antony. It would appear to hold water, given that they were sniffing around Arnautovic and a then cheap Rabiot just before that. It deflected the flak they were getting for not spending.

Great stuff all the same.

I dont think we are even in for him. The fee is fucking bonkers for that type of player, if Bellingham is genuinely a player we think we can get I dont see us spending that amount on another midfielder. Surely that Brighton lad is the more realistic option.

Have to admit, seeing that Benfica only paid £8-10m in the summer, paying them >£100m c.6 months later, does seem madness.

However, if that’s who Kloppo wants, I’m all for it. Lijnders obviously spoke glowingly of him last week.

Their current striking options are Rashford, Martial, Antony,Garnacho, Sancho, Elanga plus they have Diallo out on loan at Sunderland doing well.

They spent 200 million in the summer but apparantly that's not enough.

Line from Paul Joyce's latest article on Gakpo.

Taking their place among Europe’s elite would also help in Liverpool’s pursuit of Borussia Dortmund’s England star Jude Bellingham, who can count Klopp as his chief cheerleader. A £130 million price tag is hefty but, as with Díaz and Núñez, the way in which the deal is structured to reach that headline value is something Liverpool will work on in an attempt to ward off their rivals.

it is something they are proving accomplished at doing.

Benfica must rub their hands every time they get a cheap South American player and he has a good half season or more.

It's a fucking con, the whole thing.

Enzo worth £100m?

And we all should just nod and say "of course"?

He wasn't on many 'next big thing from Portugal' lists in the summer

The next big thing is always just around the corner, and in fairness, he's exactly the sort of player we are crying out for.

Apparently utd and wolves both agreed fees with river plate during the summer, but fernandez only demand was whoever signed him, had to immediately loan him back to river, until they where knocked out of the copa libertadores. Seeing as river where one of the favourites, if they went deep in the tournament, he wouldn't be again available to move into October/November.

Benfica where the only team to agree to his demand, they loaned him straight back to river plate

Then low and behold they got knocked out of the copa libertadores in the first round and fernandez ended up in Portugal in August

Could sign two good midfielders for the ridiculous amounts being mentioned. Good player but crazy to spend north of £100M for him.

Obviously wages would be more but you could probably get Caicedo and Amrabat for a similar fee.
