And by the way, the forward we're probably in for, or should be, is Nkunku. If we're going to spend 50-60m, better to get another Mane rather than another Carroll.

You're wrong on this I'm afraid, NMI, the forum cognoscenti have already given their verdict on Nkunku:

Nkunku is the modern-day black french Dirk Kuyt.

Just done some YouTube scouting.

Antony - looks like a twat, do not want

Nkunku - rich man's Oxlade-Chamberlain

I can’t see it, given that we’ve been linked to Coutinho in just about every window since the summer of 2018. Villa is about his level.

he would be cheap with a loan though and help with covid/afcon/general lack of players. he seems finished to me, but there's no doubt we need some help. especially with minamino and origi injured too.

I don’t disagree. Just suspect he’d be considered too expensive, even on a short-term deal. There could be a mid to lower Championship or League One forward within our price range though. I think Andy Carroll’s Reading contract expires mid-January, so maybe he can come in as cover.

I hope it happens asap. It'll cover Mane whilst he's at AFCON and will give us some goals and creativity from midfield. Can't go wrong with a loan either. Unfortunately, though, it's probably bullshit.

Agreed.

Loan, schplendid. If he does well, maybe we’ll keep him. If he’s shite, back to Barca.

Coutinho is far too good for Villa or Everton. He's the third most expensive player of all time. He was excellent for Bayern the year they won the Champions League - scoring important goals on their way to the final. The only reason Bayern didn't sign him was because the option was 120 million. They paid 8.5m just to loan him. He was also the best player in the Copa America tournament in 2019. His decline has been way overstated. Barcelona are a shambles. Messi himself couldn't stop them from sliding into obscurity.

He's far from being good enough for us.  I'm not even sure he'd figure regularly for Villa.

He is finished, and we're a much better team than we were when he was around.  He's slow, and has been found out. Either the game would go on around him while he stood and watched, or we'd have to significantly alter the way we play to accommodate him and present him with the ball.  Which he'd then lose a la Firmino.

But as a 6 month loan deal, it could be very beneficial. Knows the system, knows the league. Even 5 goals from him could be the difference in winning a pot or qualifying for the latter rounds of Europe.

He let us down so why not just use him and then ship him back to Spain in the summer.

I'd have thought it'll just be more of the same like with redbird or individuals selling their share (or part of ) of fsg, there's around 30 different investors I think. I don't see the need for them to exit LFC in particular and I'm sure they believe there is more to milk.

Seeing as they haven't taken a fucking penny out the club they haven't quite got the hang of this milking malarkey
