Anybody take in the Liam Smith fight. Felt a bit sorry for him getting another 'live' Mexican and he did well to last the 12. Thought Munguia was blowing after 2 or 3 rounds but he got his second wind & was very impressive in a crude sort of way. Highlight for me was when Munguia's mum

took her false teeth out for no obvious reason.

He started well, I thought Munguia was going to struggle, he seemed to be getting frustrated with not being able to bully Smith like he's been able to do in his previous fights. Beefy was jabbing and moving a lot, and it was working for him and the superior experience shone through.

 

Then a few rounds in Munguia landed a couple of heavy ones, and after that Liam seemed like he'd had all the confidence sucked out of him, body language completely changed. He was extremely static with his feet, and was scared to let his hands go and take some of the many chances he had to take advantage of mungias shite defence because he was too scared of being caught on the counter.

 

Then Mungia controlled the fight from that point, not just winning the rounds, but making sure the fight played out in the style he wanted it to. Smith needed to ride out the early storm then stick to the plan, back to the jab and move, frustrate the kid until he makes mistakes, also I think he only threw a couple of body punches in the entire fight, makes him a bit easy to predict when you know where every single one of the punches is aimed at.

 

Like Tyson said though 'Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth'.

 

Beefy felt a bit of Munguias power and that was enough to throw him off mentally.

Its a very interesting fight. I'm not convinced about Callum but he's massive at the weight and he might be one of those fighters that performs based on who he fights. Groves shoulder may play a part, he said it's fine but I don't believe that.
