Ah, so you were joking? That big speech about your mum was just for a laugh. Fair enough.

As you can see, I was agreeing with Section 31. I doubt you'd try and paint him as someone who wants to end welfare. Not that exasperation at what some people spend our money on remotely justifies thinking that anyway.

I’m not trying to paint anyone as anything. Everyone’s entitled to their own opinion. I was merely drawing my own conclusion, like you smugly suggested aRdja should do.

Don't listen to the shrills like numerocuntio.

It’s Numero Veinticunto. I know you are anti-EU and all that but show some respect to the Spanish language.

Bet you click your fingers when on holiday in Spain and shout “Hey, Manuel! Hey Garçon! Two-eeio beerios pour favour”

Can't help but be impressed by Sky News;

Debate about if Trump is a white supremacist and the violence is causes.

Obviously left terrorism is on the rise, girl from Novara media says left extremism does not kill people like right extremism.

Sky presenter, but what about antisemitism in the Labour party, isn't that the same.

As I say quite impressed by the commitment from Sky.

Would have been interested to see her response if they'd showed her this : https://edition.cnn.com/2019/08/05/us/connor-betts-dayton-shooting-profile/index.html

That's not meant to be a dig at the left, I'd be considered extreme left too by a lot of clowns out there just for siding with Greens I guess. I think it's hypocrisy to make out like we don't have people that lose the plot on our side too though, and am glad that CNN have published that.

edit - AP too : https://www.apnews.com/bdcdc166ee814e069edda52bee6c460e

I don't think they're happy to have those articles up as they usually add stuff like "appeared to" and "apparent" instead of just stating as fact when they don't like something, but at least they've not tried to ignore it.

Was watching a show called Russia with Simon Reeve the other day, it was on about a year ago but we recorded it.

It was showing some farflung areas of Russia and how they're basically dying out since the Soviet Union collapsed, because Communism guaranteed the people there an income.

It was interesting. While the Soviets obviously were cunts in many ways (mainly due to the fact Communism never evolved there the way Marx said it should, it skipped democracy and went straight from Feudalism) you have to admit that in certain circumstances there's a need for guaranteed income.

The idea that this support was withdrawn and entire towns just whither and die due to freemarket economics is barmy.

To a much lesser extent that's what Tory policies did to the North. Yes coal might be cheaper in other parts of the world, yes maybe you can outsource that HMRC call centre, but at what cost?

If you run civilisations according to free market economics essentially what you're going to end up with is about 50 mega cities around the globe and everyone else either dead or living on a tip.

Yes, you always learn something reading about mass shooters. This intresting music genre would probably pass me by.

"Betts was in a band called the Menstrual Munchies, recalled Zach Walton, a musician who booked the band for two shows in 2018.

Walton described those shows as an all-day event that featured bands, including those who perform in a genre Walton called "pornogrind," in Missouri.

Pornogrind is an offshoot of goregrind and grindcore music; the lyrics discuss -- oftentimes in extremely graphic and violent ways -- pornographic and sexual themes, Walton said."

Haha, have heard of pornogrind before I think. Gonna pass on seeing what it sounds like though.

Food is essential, but the food supply is wholly in private hands. Should we nationalise food production? And if not, why not?

For the most part, market forces are reasonably effective at providing food. (I won't say equitable or efficient, for many obvious reasons.) This is, primarily, because genuine competition between food suppliers is possible.

For the public services and utilities in question here, market forces fail on all counts. These things tend towards monopoly  (or oligopoly) so private provision is doomed to fail.

And gives the unions/labour central control of an industry that could be used as a political weapon. The 70's.

I don't think you and I are going to agree here; your understanding and basic assumptions of history, politics, economics and society are all very different from mine.

Here's more details about Labour's commitment to workplace democracy.

https://www.ier.org.uk/news/ier-welcomes-labours-20-point-plan-workers-rights

They're still working with IER, so don't be surprised if the next manifesto contains even more stuff to benefit workers.

This is really nothing to be feared.

That is a think tank for the Labour movement agreeing with more power for unions. No problem with lots of the other stuff.

"Ah cough; splutter'

The 70s was a decade where most people could afford to buy their own homes It was also on the main a decade of job security.

It had its faults but on the whole it was not a decade of food banks, derelict high streets and thousands of rough sleepers made homeless by the system.that used to form a little protection.

I'd take a couple of disruptive days and a few  union strikes  than the shitfest  served up across the land right now.
