Erm, sure mate.

My point, for the hard of thinking, is that no matter how many times you make a baseless assertion, it doesn't make it right.

So we've got 4 people in to do the job of 2. Bin Skrtel, Lucas and Lovren, get another decent CB in to partner Sakho, Can in the midfield with Allen or Henderson, Gerrard just ahead, with Lallana, Sterling and Coutinho up top.

I would bin Sakho before Skrtel, but yeah that could probably work. Can needs to improve dramatically from that pitiful performance he put in against QPR at DM to make that work.

Yeah, but you're calling Alonso a DM, so your judgement is at best questionable.  Can needs a run of games.  He'll be alright.

How to get a Liverpool fan to rate you as a defensive midfielder: don't make any tackles

Made six winning tackles against Sunderland, over 20% of the total team's winning tackles. Some deep, some high.

He also was the leading player on the pitch in getting the ball to forwards, with him getting the ball to Coutinho 13 times (as many times as Sakho passed to Skrtel).

He's not brilliant, he can be improved on, but he can do a very good job when he's at it.

no, he wasn't. He was a regista, Masch was his DM, then Sissoko. As was Khedira in his Madrid days - he had space to operate as deep-lying playmaker.

instead of negging, You uneducated good-for-nothing robot, write someting which is not a sack of complete travesty. kthx.

Whatever you want to call Alonso he was almost always the deepest midfielder with either Masch or Momo allowed to go and hunt the ball higher up the pitch than him. Whatever name you want to put on it he was in front of the defence at the point of transition.

Having possibly two of the best defensive midfielders ever to put on a pair of boots playing alongside him very much mitigated some of his weaknesses (as did his reading of the game). Maybe if he had considered tackling a quality (as he stated he doesn't) then he'd have been an even better player than he was/is and also wouldn't have been watching the Champions League final from the bench because of a technically terrible tackle getting him a booking

..so let him stay because he's a good lad, family guy, maybe he's shite but there are no better out there so let's embrace him, overall mediocrity and settle for 4-8th every season.

That's about the size of it. But we are not theLiverpool of old. Having said that, we can always do with some nice people about the club

The irony in you recommending a player that was playing alongside the bang average one-season wonder of Lallana in League One to replace him is hopefully not lost on you?

Always been saying I'd rather Wanyama over Schneiderlin. Schneiderlin would be a HUGE upgrade on Lucas, but for 25-28mil we could do A LOT better outside PL. He's good but he's not great. Lallana is average, looked great because midfield carried him, imagine Coutinho in free role with Can and good DM behind. He'd destroy this league. Assist machine a la Fabregas with Matic behind him. Best player in the Premier League this season (Matic I mean). Most important rentoboys player. Brilliant.

I think lallana, markovic, sterling, sturridge and coutinho are quality we just need the midfield. Can has potential but we need better than lucas, henderson and allen.

I think Henderson is too Ordinary to be our captain and his shooting makes me ill.

Delph is a gamble too, we need to buy a top DM and AM to sort our midfiels out not milner and delph.

We need a decent spine asap

Rodgers would buy two more Lallana's before agreeing to a Matic so Lucas is needed.

He wouldn't buy Song or Wanyama in the summer which would have enabled Lucas to move on or at least be on the bench.

Rodgers doesn't want a DM. Lucas is only in the side now because we were getting beat every week without a DM so it was forced on him.

I think Lucas is a far better player than what he gets credit for. The role and position by nature is not very eye catching or spectacular, and neither is Lucas, but take him out of the team and you'll see the difference.

I'm not saying there are not better players out there for the DM position, but I think he's doing all right and the longer he's been fit the more he's improved.

When I'm watching a game and he pulls one of his absolute classics, like when he gets the ball in an advanced position and there's no easy 5-10 yard pass to play and he quite visibly shits himself and gives it away, I was always wonder am I the only cunt seeing this?  Some games I watch and at the end of it I can list the various shite things he's done.  The times when I'm actually watching attacking players drift off him and when he switches off or gives a stupid foul away I think why can't anybody else see this?  Every player does it but I just do not see it as often and in a so obvious a light than I do with him.  There aren't any stats for that.  No stats for when he isn't where he should be, no stats on whether it was a needless foul or not because it's subjective.

I come on here and with some people there isn't even an acknowledgement that this happens and it is the most obvious thing about his game,  His technical ability is absolutely woeful.  His reading of the game isn't even any good.  It's simply because he's so fucking shite at doing anything positive he is trusted to not go forward and risk giving the ball away.  He didnt' suddenly become a DM because he was great at tackling did he?  It must have been his strength and power then?  No.  Ability to dictate from deep? No.  He must be really quick then to cover his full backs and centre halves? No.  I wonder why.  Oh yeah that's it, it's because he was fucking awful when relied on to provide anything creative.

The amount of times I watch games and look at him ball watching while midfielders are finding space in and around him is laughable considering he's this specialised DM.  He's a failed midfielder who the club should have been shot of years ago.

I said the other day I think the further he drops down the leagues the worse he's going to get.  The main reason for that is that he doesn't offer anything special at all and the further you drop down the more physical sides become.  He's actually got to be one of the physically weakest defensive midfielders about.  I can't wait until the day he is no longer here.
