Poor first half. We were way too slow with the ball. Villa will be even more compact and deep second half and I don't fancy us defending any more set pieces.

Coutinho was awful the first 2 games and dropped for Spurs. He's crap again today. Get him off and put Sterling or Borini, better still get Markovic off, too, and have Lambert, Borini/Sterling and Balotelli.

 

We need 2 goals at least or our season will head south early.

Markovic has been involved to be fair and as I know little about him I'll wait and see. I'm annoyed at the lack of energy from deep midfield, we seem to pass to each other without purpose other than to be doing something. I'd bring sterling on for Couthino or Markovitch and play him upfront and I'd bollock stevie and Henderson and get them trying to be more dynamic. Defence is still a big worry.

Don´t get why Brendan always decides to experiment at home to Villa. This shape and set-up isn´t working at all. Especially the midfield is terrible, Henderson is way too deep while Gerrard drifts up field without getting involved. We need Henderson to do his forward runs, not sitting back. And it´s no point in having Coutino as a focal point to the attack when he´s obviously out of form and lacks confidence. 

 

Rogers made a point about having Ballotelli marking on corners last week, but he probably should´t have. He´s awful at it.

Dunno about FIFA, but watching Lee Mason referee put me in mind of classic 1990 arcade game, Football Champ. The ref in that was also a fat, balding oaf who couldn't keep up with play and missed thuggish challenges off the ball.

 

Unfortunately that's where the similarities end, as Football Champ's comedy ref could be floored by a judicious flying kick, something which is sadly unlikely to happen to the useless Mason.
