The difference I think between the Rodwell one and the Spearing one - is the Liverpool player wasn't caught or hurt when he won the ball. Also I don't think it was half as aggressive as the Spearing one.

A red card that was rescinded by the FA which sort of disproved your statement. Just as a matter of interest how many of you out ther have played footy at a decent level in a defensive position and made a sliding tackle and been able to stop your body immediately upon contacting the ball? It was poor refereeing - check the Fulham players reaction to the tackle as it happens, there is none

That is why I mentioned our players reaction.

Redexile? if my statement has been disproved why aren't we appealing? okay it was a bad example, but nothing has been disproved or proved either way. im just giving my view.

The zfulham player wasn't even contesting the ball when J cleared it. Are we outlawing the tackle now in football? You've come up with the same theory as that gobshite failed ,Boro manager came up with.

As for xerxes looking at a still picture and ignoring the prior discussion and supplied video of the incident, well I will treat that with the contempt it deserves and powerneg him. If I remember, I may even do it twice.

The echo from the bottom of that hole is getting louder and longer, zig.

The ref sent him off because it was a sending off offence, the club are not appealing because it would be pointless. The photo shows a red card offence, part of the video sequence.Suggesting that you consider what happened before, and after, but not the bit that matters is embarrassing.

No harm in admitting that you were wrong mate, first time round I would have agreed with you, too.

Agree. I remember Bellamy actually having a go at him saying, why did you go down, you were clean through, or it could have been... Why didn't you pass, similar to what he did for Maxi to give him an open goal....

That's my number one most infuriating thing about Adam - for all his skill, he is remarkably slow of thought on the break, and prefers to just run straight at the defenders with the ball. It's weird. Bellamy should have had that ball well before any foul.

The Rodwell incident was overturned on appeal.

Actually I think you'll find that it was debris from an experimental high-altitude surveillance balloon belonging to a classified program named Mogul.

not outlawed, just made less dangerous.

Have another look at the tackle Jay's eyes are only on the ball Dembele (?) is not even contesting hence he makes the contact look worse than it is. You know what I could accept it if decisions were consistent from the cunts in the middle and we knew this was a rule. A far worse tackle at Stamford bridge gets a yellow. Ballotelli gets a yellow for pulling Johnson back Senderos doesn't. There is just complete inconsistency from the refs nowadays and there,s a few of them on the list that should be packed off back to the amateur leagues.

yeah well there will always be inconsistencies whatever the rules say. and I'll say it again - the ball is irrelevant, anubis. you tackle with both feet or follow through with both and you give the ref a decision to make.

You really have no clue what you're on about. TK is wrong but you are just being very silly.

I'm agreeing with you.

The law is stupid, but I can't see it being overturned unfortunately.

Serious foul play.

A player is guilty of serious foul play if he uses excessive

force or brutality against an opponent when challenging

for the ball when it is in play.

“Using excessive force” means that the player has far

exceeded the necessary use of force and is in danger of

injuring his opponent.

Any player who lunges at an opponent when

challenging for the ball from the front, from the side or

from behind using one or both legs, with excessive force

and endangering the safety of an opponent, is guilty of

serious foul play.

I would say that Friend applied the bit in bold.
