That'll come out after the tickets have flown out.

My guess though: The reformed Inspiral Carpets, Kasabian, Shed Seven, some shite indy nonsense, maybe the Monday's for a pay day. After that I think it's anyone's guess?

Edit: Haven't The Charlatans just started up again after an hiatus?

The Charlatans have been gigging and releasing music pretty regularly, and Shed Seven have also toured in the last year or two, I think.

Kasabian are obviously influenced by the Roses, and are big fans, so that might be a good shout, although whatever venues The Roses play, Kasabian would be able to fill on their own, so maybe not.

I'm hoping it will be The Paris Angels and Northside.

My mates band played at the same gig as Northside at the Carling academy a few years ago. I can honestly say they are the worst band I've heard live in my life.

Don't know what they were like when they first came out.

Dunno, I think I bought one 12" and a T-shirt that had the cover of said 12" on it.

A big apple or plum or something.

And the song was that jingly-jangly classic "Shall We Take A Trip"

I have an awful feeling it's going to be pure 'Madchester' nostalgia with a bigish band 'inspired' by the Roses.

I hope not because the future Mrs S is adamant we're going come hell or high water.

Serious question.

What music does float your boat if you don't like care free and abandon type music?

I think there a comes a time when carefree and abandon - type music can only be sold to me by young people, who I genuinely believe are care-free.

I do not, for one second, believe Mani can pay his rent. Nor the drummer. And possibly even Squire is using a credit card.

Ian's happy-go-lucky, though in that picture he's made out to be 5 ft 11. I've met him a couple of times, he's a surly cunt and he's tiny.

Also interesting to note the Telegraph are leading with a story about Ian Brown's divorce being a big factor in all this, and his likely need for a bit of money to cope with that.

Got to look at the back-story Bruce, it's a snake-charm to get that money from your wallet into theirs. No ta, not unless they play a festival like Reading, which judging by how hard Reading now chokes on the NME cock, is very likely.

I've been trying to look for sales figures, but alas couldn't find any. I don't believe they couldn't live quite happily on the post-sales and royalties scheme. They also have various other interests which bring home the bacon.

Brown, yes he is getting divorced, still makes a very good living from his solo material, maybe they just want more if we want to be cynical! But contrary to that why would they run the risk of muddying their name unless their was a massive financial incentive, or maybe they feel like they have something to prove?

From my posts above you'll be able to see that I'm not to enamoured by the thought of standing in a field while they belt out a best of, but if I come across tickets I'll gladly go and watch the circus.

I was just curious as to what you actually like, being you dismissed the Roses out of hand?

Edit: Mani pays his rent though Primal Scream, arguably a more successful band than the Roses.

I don't care if they reformed to make money, because they want to play together again or whatever reason. I'm just happy they have.

Same thing when Rage reformed, I really felt the need to go see them. But at the same time I knew it wasn't like it was the first time, when I was a bit too young to indulge in it all.

Same with watching The Pixies at Reading a few years back. Although brilliant to see, to tick off on the bucket list, I think I just really wanted to be part of the original movement, to have been there at the time it all kicked off and felt so new. You never get that original buzz when they reform, it always feels like a 'best of' album, you do feel like a tourist, as opposed to feeling part of something new and exciting.

Spanner, if I post a list you'll just rip it up. It's forum etiquette.

But my personal favourites are the likes of:

Prince, Neutral Milk Hotel, Rage Against the Machine, Nirvana, The Doors, Guns and Roses, Justice, Placebo, Manics, The White Stripes, Kasabian, Jurassic 5, Pavement.

Basically, open the door of any teenager in the mid-to-late nineties and any poster on the wall is what I am into.

I do have more eclectic likes, but that's not the point though. The Roses nor Primal Scream ever made it onto the bedroom wall. Nor did the likes of Morrisey, The Smiths, Oasis, for that fact. Perhaps it's a bit of an anti-Manc vibe, not sure it was on purpose.
