I thought Lucas did alright. Poulson was left for dead so many times he should have been ringed by crime scene tape.

Raul shouldn't be rusty, he should be ready.

You may be right, sir. I wouldn't say Poulsen excelled and would have to watch the game again re: being left for dead. All I know that is on current form I wouldn't throw Meireles into a derby. I guess it's between him and Joe Cole, with Gerrard out.

Aquilani arrived injured, played a few,got injured, went on the bench stayed on the bench ended up been shifted out to Juve on loan, where hes playing regularly....I think Meriles is struggling like Aquilani did...neither of them could lace Alonso's boots, He's without doubt the biggest loss to the Reds in recent times...

Yeah I was on the fence to start with, mostly due to Roy's approach to the games . Now were playing football, you can see Raul has got some serious skills, can bag a goal and has a great eye for a pass . Last night he was unlucky on a few occasions, could have got a goal and possibly should have gone alone instead he tried to feed Torres . On the whole though, to answer the OP, "what does Meireles do ?" Pretty much everything, in fact he is one of our most complete players for quite some time .

There was a pass he made last night with his back turned and he made a simple layoff. It was an easy enough pass, but it showed his awareness. I think he is a great player.

Yep, and will only get better once he gets to the premier league pace.

Great potential there.
