Gerrard was in a class on his own, while Spearing did well. We sometimes forget it`s not easy for those players on the fringes to come in a play well, once a month. They will usually lack match fitness. But Spearing played like a regulare, and deserves credit for that.

 

Johnson did not play very well, and looked rusty, but in the end he won us the match when he won the penalty.

 

I would also like to put in a good word for Shelvey. He is still just 18 years old, and the occasion got to him a few times. But the boy has got an engine, and at times I thought he popped up everywhere, and he never hid when he struggled and he kept going until the final whistle. He learned alot tonight, and he will improve a lot over the coming years.
