LFC TV just said Torres is '.....first into melwood and last to leave....' now he may only be doing weights to strengthen the knee or he could be returning against Citeh...probably the following game but we can dream.....

Being first in and last to leave will do him the world of good.

Spain coach: Torres should rest up

Spain coach Vicente del Bosque has urged Fernando Torres to delay his return from injury with Liverpool in order to boost his World Cup hopes.

Torres returned to training in midweek following a lay-off with a knee problem and is line to return for the clash with Wigan on March 8.

European champions Spain are amongst the favourites to take the World Cup crown in South Africa in July and 59-year-old Del Bosque insists his country's chances would improve by Torres being kept out of action.

The comments could anger Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez, who has seen his talisman play just 21 times this season.

He has notched 12 goals during an injury-ravaged campaign that has seen the club struggle to hold on to the coveted fourth Champions League place.

Torres' recent battle with a groin problem was sustained whilst on international duty with Spain, reigniting the club versus country row that provides the backdrop to national team fixtures.

But del Bosque wants the 25-year-old to play less for the Merseysiders in an attempt to keep him in top condition for this summer's finals in South Africa.

He told the News of the World: "The fewer games Fernando plays for his club, the better it will be for us.

"We want him not to play too many games, to recover completely for the World Cup and have had some rest in between. We'd like him fresh for the tournament.

"That can only be good news for Spain. We hope Liverpool's loss will be our gain. "Fernando Torres represents a crucial part of our squad."

Sadly, this seems to be the way of things. There are a lot of clubs up and down this country and all over the world who seem to be playing players exorbitant amounts of money just to be fit for World Cup duty. Except at United of course.

And the culture will never change either while the media, and especially the media in this country think that not only is this stance justified, it is the only stance.

I had the misfortune to catch all of the Sunday Supplement this morning, it had Custis and Fullbrook on it, two of the worlds biggest cunts, with Winter as the 3rd man, and their only concern about any player is 'he is out for x Months/weeks, but he will be fit for the World Cup, so you Proles needn't worry'.

Fuck that shit right off, I'm not interested in the World fucking Cup, Liverpool is my main and only concern and whether Gerrard, Mascherano, Torres etc etc play and perform for us. The World Cup is a diversion for the Summer, no more, no less.

I imagine that Journos in most Countries are the same aswell....International cuntery comes first to them, national pride, the national team and all that crap. You may find that apart from a few tattoo'ed mongs, Cockneys and fuckwits from the provinces, that most fans care about their own team first and foremost.

Cappello only last week said that Rooney should start less games so that he would not be worn out for the World Cup

intl managers are well within their rights to request that players are 'rested' - we all know though that the club manager will do whatever the fuck he wants

The fact that he has pretty much not had any rest for a few years and that his injury issues increased and became more frequent after he played for his country in a meaningless friendly - You Sir can fuck right off.

Your just a fat Ron Jeremy wannabe!

Bit of a myth that Torres has'nt had no rest for ages, hes been injured enough the last couple of seasons so has had plenty of rest.
