I don't think Suarez is a striker as in a number 9. He is more of a forward or second striker, and I don't think he'd be very succesful filling in for Torres as a lone striker.

Only saw him during the World Cup and didn't think he had a good one at that. He ran around a lot but missed a shit load of chances.

 

He is probably one of the players Comolli alluded to in regard to deals for players who would not usually be available due to clubs financial situation.
