i love robbie to bits like and his book is a good read, but how many times does he say summat along the lines of 'i came from nothing, little robbie ryder to this......'? He seems to play on it a bit like. but i love him so fuck it who cares.

he had everything at liverpool and when he left it all went wrong for him, is he now playing in australia?9pvnmf.gif

In fairness he got his dream return to play infront of the Kop again - now he's running down his batteries in a shite but improving league, whilst earning decent money and living on the Queensland coast, i dont see whats that 'wrong' with it. Looking back i think he can be very proud of his career - he won a good few trophies and made an absolute fortune, and he will always have icon status in Liverpool. Moving to Leeds was a bad mistake but it happens in football.

Great player, remember seeing him get the fastest hat trick in the PL against arse and seaman in goal.

But something went wrong and he started to pile on the pounds. I remember seeing him at Anfield, red faced after25 minutes during games and a pot belly clearly visible under his shirt.

He wouldnt conform to Houllier's regime and paid the price by being shipped out to lids. Career was already going downhill by then.

Still, it was great to see him come back even if he was well past his best. Nothing wrong with him ending his playing career in Aus imo. Wish him all the best.

He was forced to move to Leeds though. Just to think if he had never done his knee in that time against Everton in 98, I think he would have gone on to become the clubs greatest striker.

Guest Dog Chaser

Unlucky with serious injuries and fell out with Houllier, i think he may have gone on to become the all time premier league goalscorer if it weren't for those.

couldn't agree more he was forced out but like you say, if it wasn't for those injures....

i loved it when we re-signed him but again that was beacuse it was 'god's' home coming'. based on what he had achieved after he left us, if it had been any other player we would have been spitting feathers.

He signed back on the 27th of January 2006. My 14th birthday. One of the best days of my life. He was my icon growing up.
