Happy Hour

Pure quality that! When that came out, I was working at a nozzle factory in Widnes. (Hey, we can all be seduced by glamour.) It was the kind of place where men do men's jobs, women do women's jobs and if you're not white you don't do any job. I was really unhappy there because I didn't fit in (and still wet-behind-the-ears enough to care about that). This song helped me realise that everyone else in that place were cocks and I was right not to fit in with them.

It's also a great tune.

Sonic Youth - Mildred Pierce

The first always brings me back to a Paris nightclub called La Locomotive in 1998 ( dancing to it drunk on the stage at 5 AM ) while the second two take me way back to my student days in the early 90s. Brilliant thread I have to say!

Early 90s, uni, grunge~tastic....nowhere near my fave band but a quality tune and a good video.

on a similar subject one of my less frequently played albums and tunes from that period.

All good stuff

On a similar theme

Soundgarden - Loud Love

From prior to them maklng it big with Badmotorfinger but this remains one of my favourite songs. Sounds snobbish but I liked them less and less the more they went on. Lost interest after badmotorfinger really.

Tad - Woodgoblins

Mudhoney - This Gift

Alice in Chains - Man in the Box

One of the least acclaimed bands of the period, is among the most enduring. Still listen to them now which is not true of a lot of the above.

Screaming Trees - Shadow of the season

Butterfly

All I Know

Shadow of the Season and Nearly Lost You are ace. Disagree about Soundgarden, I liked them to the bitter end. The same can't be said for Tad who turned a bit crap after 8 Way Santa.
