People picking Suarez over Rush blows my tiny mind.

Player A - 82 golas, 1 League Cup

Player B - 346 goals, 5 leagues titles, 3 FA Cups, 5 League Cups, 2 European Cups.

Who was better for Liverpool Football Club?

Nobody picking him thinks he was better for the club, they think he was a better footballer.

Greatest? Easily. Best? Possibly not (although not certainly so). We need to make a distinction between the two. Best is purely about talent for me, but greatness is about overall contribution to the club with everything in the mix (talent, trophies, longevity, character, etc).

These are off the top of my head, in no order except the first on each list:

Greatest 5: Kenny, Rushie, Mo, Souness, Stevie

Best 5: Suarez, Digger, Stevie, Kenny, Fowler.

I’d also add

Greatest: Salah

Best: Mane

Sadio not even had a sniff yet.

I feel I can’t comment on players before I started going in 1990. I‘m sure Dalglish, Rush, Barnes, Souness, Hansen, Keegan, Toshack, Neal & Clemence etc were all, great. great players, I’m not going to base my opinions on DVD’s and rather what I’ve seen with my own eyes.

So with that very hefty caveat…

Alisson, Gerrard, Suarez, Van Dijk, Salah.

Honourable mentions to Alonso, Mascherano, Mane, Coutinho, Trent, Robbo, Fowler and a host of other

Nonsense all round.

Is it?

Mane was an attacking player, his job was to score and create goals.

So how about we look back in history on players who has a goal/assist ratio better than one every 140 minute for the club.

Where will Mane find himself on the list among those who have more than 10 assists since the 1960/61 season, and among those playing at the club since 1990/91?

Goal/assist:

1. Salah - 95 minutes

2. Aldrigde - 99 minutes

3. Suarez - 102 minutes

4. Sturridge - 107 minutes

5. Torres - 112 minutes

6. Owen - 117 minutes

7. Fowler - 121 minutes

7. Collymore - 121 minutes

9. Jota - 122 minutes

10. Origi - 126 minutes

11. Walsh - 130 minutes

11. Hateley - 130 minutes

13. Dalglish - 132 minutes

13. Rush - 132 minutes

13. Crouch - 132 minutes

16. Mane - 136 minutes

17. Firmino - 137 minutes

18. Toshack - 139 minutes

i think its hard to judge unless you have actually seen them,

I only saw the tail end of kennys playing career and never saw souness, but both would have to be in there.

In the flesh it would be barnes, gerrard and luis.

controversial view, but Its often forgotten just how good owen was. For 2/3 years he was utterly phenomenal.
