Further down that thread she says estimated mortality rate in Italy for over 70s is 8-15%.

The fella on Joe Rogan (who has a pretty impressive CV) seemed to think that infection through contact is negligible re this virus, so all this washing hands every ten minutes thing is pretty ineffective at preventing the spread. Recyled air is how it's spreading, so put the heating on full in your office and open the windows!

I've seen everything now. I was at my orthopaedic doctors in a neighbouring city and whilst walking to the car park this cunt passed me with one of those full on head masks similar to a bee keeper but with breathable plastic instead of mesh, talk about OTT. Every window was on kip in the doctors, fucking freezing in there.

As far as the supposed test on the missus went due to her profession, no test done, just a question and answer sitting. 'Have you been on holiday in the last 6 months, if yes than where? Have any of your family members been on holiday.....Have you had a cold or flu symptoms in the last 6 months?'.....and so on.

Interesting. Would still mean self-isolation is effective, though.

OK, can we just shut everything down everywhere for 3 weeks, close the borders for individual travel, suspend the stock market and impose some kind of state of emergency while we are dealing with the pandemic? Because we are clearly all getting there, so lets do it now and contain this thing, rather than destroying everything in instalments over the next months?

They don't believe it can be contained now. The best they can do is flatten the curve.

But as I posted in the f**ty thread - the virus is not going away. 3 weeks really doesn't do much imo. The virus is already out there - realistically, these strategies would need to be in place until a vaccine is found.

Surely the best way to flatten the curve would be a coordinated global action, rather than uncoordinated escalation of various measures, with slow protracted destruction of the economy and all the other consequences that can follow?

You'd think, but we're just not organised enough as a global community to do that. I find the lack of action in the UK absolutely mental, but whatchyagonnado?

Genuinely feel for anyone currently on a waiting list for mental health services, the wait is about to go through the roof due to this chaos.

Just had a text to not go to the doctor's surgery with non urgent issues but to go on line for text chat.

Herd immunity could be the answer

So, we just need about 1.3m to die and then we'll all be sound!

That's fucking mad.

Eugenics though. Survival of the fittest and fuck those who are too weak to plough on.
