I am no financial expert and it is murky subject - but I am struggling to get my head round this part...

Cash generated from operations leapt from £37million to £71million, while the net cash investment on players and infrastructure was £91million compared to £95million the year before.

"The wage bill climbed by around 8% overall with the club now employing in excess of 700 staff.

As a result of the £91million investment in players and infrastructure, net bank debt increased by £22million to £67million, but Hughes insists that isn't cause for concern.

No, the levels we are talking about are absolutely sustainable,” he said. "Given the financial growth we're talking about, those numbers aren't significant.”

Should blitz past the £400m mark this season (figures released next March) based on those numbers, because both matchday and TV income will be up through CL participation. Hopefully we win the bloody thing!

Beyond that, both the Standard Chartered and Bet Victor sponsorship deals run out in 2019. On top of that, we are upgrading the Academy site in Kirkby to house first-team training facilities. We could be looking for a naming rights deal for the training ground in addition to replacing (or renegotiating with) the two main sponsors.

I thought the New Balance deal was due up in 2019 as well, but I've read somewhere that we are staying with them until 2021. In comparison to several other PL clubs, our present kit is looking increasingly undervalued. We need to renegotiate a better deal with New Balance or look to one of the big guns to throw money at us.

All of the above is meaningless unless the money is reinvested into constantly upgrading the first team squad with genuine quality and depth.

Curious why the football club has 3 strikers worthy of being Premier League professionals on the books to cover 3 positions, what with all this money sloshing about. The shysters will need to hope their remarkable Klopp-induced fortune continues to hold, and we evade injuries for the rest of the season.

The profits will be even more sizeable on the next accounts, given the neglect to spend.

we haven't stated to pay any of the loan back yet for the main stand etc... but would think Kirby will be offset by selling the land etc...

The accounts are up to May 2017. We most likely have started paying back on that loan since then.

Well who do you think paid all the builders to build the thing. Did they build it all for free or did the owners pay for it and give the club terms to repay the cost at its leisure and a very low interest rate. That is why it will show in the accounts wont it as money owing.
