So, is he better than Sturridge?

Hard to say. We know that Sturridge can do it in this league. With players coming from other leagues there is always at least a little bit of doubt, isn't there?

My preference would be to see Sturridge given a chance as the main striker but that's just me. Soldado is probably the best, most established player that we could get to replace Suarez. It's a difficult one really.

We're in limbo because of Suarez. No point picking up a couple of £10m players now if they'd only get relegated to the bench when we found ourselves with £50m in our pockets and able to buy much better.

I don't get the indifference to Sturridge by some though, he's bagged ten quicker than any of our players in the Prem era and yet he still gets questioned. I'd prefer he was an automatic choice for CF, let Aspas deputise and spunk the cash on one top drawer wide player.

All optimism at the end of last season has gone. We've spent the net sum of fuck all on 'potential' or average players, our best player and top scorer wants out (to the one club we could actually overtake in the top 4 - with a few good buys), and we look like starting the season with Borini and Aspas as the main strikers. Everyone around us from last season have strengthed so unless something drastic happens soon it's going to be another season as also-rans.

We don't seem to be linked with anyone at the moment which isn't a good omen that FSG are willing to open their wallet.

Your point?

Everton have sold no-one and bought new players- granted thye're not world class but it has strenghted their squad.

Spurs have strenghted their squad with good players - question marks about Bale staying remain and if he goes (which to my knowledge he has never said he wants to) then they will be weaker. They also finished well above us last year.

To be fair I said teams around us, and Arsenal finished well above us last year with their current squad. We could have strengthed this summer and pushed them for 4th spot, but Mignolet is a direct replacement for Reina and Toure for Carra - are they better than their replacements? - I don't know - certainly not to the point that we will push on to CL places. Maybe if Suarez realises what a tit he's being and stays we can carry last years post Xmas form form into this season- but we would all like to see some quality added to that squad to improve us.
