PSG are going to have to deal with the same issue that has hampered Bayern in the last couple of years. Winning the league so early can dull a team's competitive edge because they usually play out the rest of their league campaign in 3rd gear at best. Even doing that for a couple of weeks makes it difficult to suddenly find the higher gears needed in European games at this stage of the season. It won't affect all the players of course but enough of the first XI to make it difficult to raise their game when required.

They were missing Matuidi and Verratti from their midfield, but the lack of spark I previously mentioned was evident in this one.

De Bruyne just called the semi final the "half final" 3 times. The fucking bell whiff.

'Half final' is basically what they call it on the continent so it doesn't surprise me that he calls it that too. It's usually written as '1/2 Final'.

France has produced so many top class players over the decades, and had the world's best national side on a couple of occasions, winning a World Cup and European Championships. There is plenty of pedigree there. And yet France has produced just one European Cup winning side (Marseille in 1993). Only one other French club has won a European trophy (PSG won the Cup-Winners' Cup in 1996 - they were defending champions when we played them). That's it. Belgium has won twice as many European club trophies, Dutch clubs have more than 5 times as many, and the Portuguese have won nearly 4 times as many. Shit, even the Scots have more European trophies at club level. These countries all won European trophies at a time when very few players moved abroad so the French can't put it all down to their best players moving abroad.

At international level, Scotland would be the comparison. They used to produce some of the best players around but were generally shit at international level. Never ever reaching the knockout stages of an international tournament takes some doing given the players they could call upon.
