Critically ill & intensive care isn't stable.

Fucking wankers Sky.

It can be, you can be critically ill and in ITU and also be stable. Stable refers to the vitals being stable

Surely he'd be in Intensive Care but in a stable condition, not critically ill in Intensive Care?

If he was stable, surely the statement would have mentioned something.

No. I already explained it above. Stable doesn't mean he isn't going to die, it means they've been able to control his breathing and heart rate etc. It's probably being done by a ventilator in intensive care.

Liverpool Football Club has tonight issued a message of support to Fabrice Muamba, the Bolton Wanderers midfielder, who collapsed during the FA Cup quarter-final tie against Tottenham on Saturday evening.

The England U21 international, who played in both ties against Liverpool for Bolton this season, left the field on a stretcher*after six medics spent 10 minutes trying to resuscitate him. He had earlier*collapsed to the ground with no one else around him.

The match was abandoned after the 23-year-old was rushed to hospital in London and at 9.30pm tonight the following statement was released: "Bolton Wanderers can confirm that Fabrice Muamba has been admitted to The Heart Attack Centre at The London Chest Hospital where he is in a critically ill condition in intensive care. No further information will be issued at this stage. The club and hospital request that the media and public respect the family's privacy at this time."

Liverpool managing director Ian Ayre told Liverpoolfc.tv: "The thoughts of everyone at this football club are with Fabrice, his family, friends and teammates. Everyone who was watching the game was shocked and upset by the scenes on the pitch and we all hope he can pull through this terrible ordeal.

"We're all praying for him tonight."

Just finished watching Universidad Chile v Unión Española which Universidad won 3-2 after coming back from a 0-2 down. Even at 0-2 down i shoved 10 notes on them to win at 14/1. Cracking team and i have watched most of their games so far this season. They have this player called Junior Fernandes (Brasilien-Chile) who is a forward but plays out on the right wing, fast as fuck and scores his fair share of goals despite not playing as an out and out forward. Love to see him at our club and he is only 23. They also have this other striker called Raúl Ruidíaz (Peru) who is also shit hot and only 21. If you get a chance to watch them you won't be disappointed.

Fabrice Muamba faces critical 24 hours, according to Bolton manager Owen Coyle

Bolton manager Owen Coyle said Sunday Fabrice Muamba faces a "crucial" 24 hours as the stricken footballer fights for life in hospital after collapsing during a match against Tottenham.

The 23-year-old Kinshasa-born player was rushed to hospital after harrowing scenes towards the end of the first half at White Hart Lane on Saturday, when the midfielder slumped to the turf with no player near him.

Several paramedics were seen attempting to revive the player before he was rushed off the field in a stretcher after 41 minutes with the scores at 1-1.

Bolton manager Coyle, who accompanied Muamba to the hospital, later gave an update on the player's progress.

"Fabrice is critically ill. The next 24 hours are going to be absolutely crucial," Coyle told Sky News early Sunday.

"We've obviously been inundated with people wishing him well and we hope that if everybody can pray strongly tonight that Fabrice is able to recover.

"It's very serious. There's not getting away from that. He's critically ill and God willing he makes it through."

Muamba was wearing an oxygen mask and flanked by a number of paramedics and Bolton medical staff as he was carried off the pitch.

Referee Howard Webb called the players off the field before an announcement shortly afterwards that the game had been abandoned.

A joint statement from Bolton and the London Chest Hospital released late Saturday said Muamba was in intensive care.

"Bolton Wanderers can confirm that Fabrice Muamba has been admitted to The Heart Attack Centre at The London Chest Hospital where he is in a critically ill condition in intensive care," the statement said.

Players, fans and millions of television viewers had watched in shock on Saturday as paramedics treated Muamba on the ground at White Hart Lane.

Several players from both teams were distraught as the seriousness of the situation became apparent and fans sang Muamba's name as he was treated.

The stricken footballer's condition prompted an avalanche of concern on social-networking site Twitter, with the words "Pray for Muamba" trending hours after he was admitted to hospital.

Muamba's Bolton team-mate Stuart Holden tweeted: "Praying for you Fab. Hope he's OK. Thoughts with him and his family."

Middlesbrough defender Justin Hoyte - a former youth team colleague of Muamba's at Arsenal - posted: "I seriously hope my best friend in football is OK. Stay strong bro please please stay strong."

Football Association chairman David Bernstein said: "On behalf of the FA, I would like to send our thoughts and prayers to Fabrice Muamba and his family this evening."

Muamba, who moved to England from the Democratic Republic of Congo at the age of 11 after his father fled the war-torn country, has represented England at schoolboy and under-21 level.

Also, this Sudden Adult/Infant Death Syndrome is a load of bollocks. Basically we cannot find a reason why this person or child has died. Makeyuppy bull shit.

You are right in that a post mortem shows no obvious sign of death but it's believed that in most cases an irregularity in the heart beat can cause it to just stop. This can be picked up in screening and treated but just not proved after the event.

I'm sure your post is more ignorant rather than deliberately offensive but sometimes if you don't know what you're talking about it's best to say nothing.

I'm sure it does, if he recovers he will get a pacemaker and he will most likely have to stop playing football as a professional.

Yep, the lad will have months of rehab if he pulls through. They won't know for a while what disabilities he may have suffered as a result of oyygen starvation but will be miracle if he recovers enough to play football again. Seems odd to say he was lucky but if it had happened anywhere else he would almost certainly have died before the medics could have got to him.

Thoughts go out to his family. I know what its like to be waiting around with someone close to you in a coma and not knowing whether they will survive or if they do what shape they will be in.
