1. Skrtel - who is this guy and when did he become such a monster in attack and defense?

2. Downing - he was busy all game and always looked a threat

3. Johnson - solid 120 mins, and quality vital pen to put us ahead

Third spot could have gone to Kuyt for his goal and penalty alone, but had to give it to Johnson. Just.

1. Skrtel - Improved massively this year and was fantastic yesterday.

2. Downing - Big improvement on previous performances, more of the same please.

3. Kuyt - Game changer, improved us when he came on, goal, clearance off the line and was never going to miss his pen. Totally deserving of a medal for his time with us.

Johnson, Agger and Carroll all payed their part too, though Carroll was still a mixture of good (setting up goal, flying tackle to put off Miller) and shit (standing around the edge of the box instead of getting in there when Suarez flashed the ball back across goal).

Skrtel by a country mile and that was the general consensus of opinion around me, although he was playing Mason onside for the first goal.

I thought Stewart Downing was brilliant first half, and faded a bit towards the end of the second and for extra time. Great pen though.

And big Andy could do well to sit down and watch how Dirk came off the bench and didnt give a Cardiff player with a ball a minutes peace.

Suarez looked 'leggy' to me. Wasn't making the usual runs out wide and losing defenders.

Thought Cardiff stuck to their game plan very well. Its very difficult for aplyer to stand out against such a well organised side. Great credit to them.

While Skrtel was the second best player on the pitch, he made mistakes. He was the one that played the Cardiff lad onside for their goal, and there only 2 corners were defended really poorly. If Skrtel hadn’t have scored then I doubt anyone would have been saying anything about the lad. But he did score, and that’s a huge plus. But he’s paid to defend, and he didn’t really do that superbly at all. However, the rest of the team was abject, thus why Dirk gets third place. But Downing was head and shoulders above anyone else.

1) Downing

2) Skrtel

3) Kuyt.
