Summer Transfer Thread 2012

Its a complete contradiction to what was going on with the Manager debacle.

All were saying that it should be done behind close doors, when it is people are starved for information; transfer speculations included.

Welcome to the modern day fan.

Dave Whelan is not involved yet, stand by if we do go for anyone from Wigan and we will know via a phone-call to sky even before the involved player does!!

We fans want it all ways don't we!

The gossip gives us something to talk about, even excites us at times granted but people treat it as fact and get all bent out of shape about lack of activity or prospect of signing shite.

That the catch though isn't it? No one knows who we are targeting, whats going on behind closed doors, or who we want to sign.

As it should be if you ask me.

So let the speculation and the rumors roll. At the very least its fun to watch.

I read somewhere that Cole, Carra, Gerrard, Kuyt, Maxi and one other, can't remember who, made up 25% of our wage bill.

Looks like the owners are now trying to underpay players after probably giving Carroll too much last summer, and definitely giving Downing and Adam too much.

Aqualani is the other one, 6 players take up a quarter the wage bill last season, only one was 1st choice in the team, amazing when you think of it.

Spurs are a considerably better team at present, have a bit more money, and are based in London. For the vast majority of players, it's a no brainer. We need to earn our status back; their position is tenuous.

will they be that much better without modric? I'm not so sure.... bale only signed coz he had a shit season compared to year before and no cunt wanted him anymore. except nasa.

How much are they going to get for Modric? I've read anything up to £35m, they could get two very good players for that. They'll be strong next season, Spurs fans are convinced AVB is taking over too.

Spurs might be a better fit for AVB if he does decide to go there. A younger squad, finished well last season, doesn't appear to be drunk on player power. But if he's missing the likes of Modric, Adebayor, vdV, it will be a tough start. The chairman is buying and selling players without a manager in place, and there's the added difficulty of a Europa league campaign. I think in many ways, spurs season may mimic our own in terms of changes and the challenges ahead.

Spurs will fall well short next season, fact.

We know first hand what happens when your best central midfielder leaves you, it's a massive void to fill, and unless they pull someone like Moutinho out of the bag then they're in for a rude awakening.

King, Friedel, Gallas, Parker, all a year older, they're going to hit a big wall soon without big investment.

King has retired and Gallas is off to West Ham.

They will really need to invest in some attacking talent though, especially if Modric goes, unless they move back in for Adebayor.

I think Defoe is the only recognised striker on the books now.
