Although the media were aware of Mr Harris's name in November, they chose only to report that an 82-year-old man had been questioned. His name was first reported by the Sun on its website and later editions of the newspaper on Friday.

What a fucking surprise...

Always suspected that tie me kangaroo down was about animal bondage.

There's an old Australian stockman lying, dying. He gets himself up onto one elbow and 'e turns to his mates, who are all gathered around and 'e says:

Watch me wallabies bleed, mate

Watch me wallabies bleed,

They're a dangerous breed, mate

So watch me wallabies bleed

Altogether now!

Tie me kangaroo down, sport

Tie me kangaroo down

Tie me kangaroo down, sport

Tie me kangaroo down

Keep me cock or two cool, Curl,

Keep me cock or two cool

Ah, don't go acting the fool, Curl

Just keep me cock or two cool

Altogether now!

Tie me kangaroo down, sport

Tie me kangaroo down

Tie me kangaroo down, sport

Tie me kangaroo down

'n' take me koala from the back, Jack

Take me koala from the back

He lives somewhere out on the track, Mac

So take me koala from the back

Altogether now!

Tie me kangaroo down, sport

Tie me kangaroo down

Tie me kangaroo down, sport

Tie me kangaroo down

Let me abos go loose, Lew

Let me abos go loose

They're of no further use, Lew

So let me abos go loose

Altogether now!

Tie me kangaroo down, sport

Tie me kangaroo down

Tie me kangaroo down, sport

Tie me kangaroo down

And find me a platypus to fuck, Bill

Find me a platypus to fuck

Ah, don't let 'im go running amok, Bill

Just find me a platypus to fuck

Altogether now!

Vision On supremo Tony Hart fashioned a massive clay dildo out of his spare Morphs, and rodgered a young PhillyBurkhill in the ear for 20 minutes, before repeatedly beating him over the head with it. That was in 2010 I think, and may not have been related to the Saville inquiry.

Freddie Starr facing fresh claims

Entertainer Freddie Starr has been rearrested over fresh claims of sexual offences, under the strand of Operation Yewtree unrelated to Jimmy Savile.

Mr Starr, 70, from Warwickshire, was arrested last year on suspicion of sexual offences under the "Savile and others" strand of the operation.

He has previously denied any wrongdoing and has been re-bailed until June.

Operation Yewtree was set up following the revelation of the sexual offences carried out by Jimmy Savile.

The late BBC Radio One DJ and television presenter abused adults and children over more than five decades, according to a Metropolitan Police report.

The NSPCC described him as one of the most prolific sex offenders in its 129-year history.

Operation Yewtree has three strands. One concerns Savile's crimes exclusively, whilst another relates to allegations against Savile and others, and Mr Starr was arrested on 1 November 2012 under this strand.

The third strand, under which Mr Starr was arrested on Wednesday, concentrates on accusations unconnected to the Savile investigations but which emerged as a result of the publicity surrounding Savile.

Mr Starr has previously denied claims that he groped a girl of 14 while in a BBC dressing room with Savile.

Ok...to answer some of the thoughts that have gone through this thread...

During the late 70's and early 80's I did some small work for the BBC off and on while mostly working in music doing session stuff. You got to hear a lot of things. Saville was prime amongst them - his thing for young girls and according to some, young boys...Glitter I knew about more or less first hand as a good friend of mine had to play in his backing band to get out of a contract with the same agency who ran him, so he could pursue a recording contract with a group he wanted to join. As he was my best mate, i joined the mini-tour of Uni's with him. The rest of the backing band were made up of seasoned old pros including one who played with Snafu, and another with the old Merseysound band, the Undertakers. Over our first post-show beer one night in a hotel in Hull (barf), they openly and baldly told us about Glitter and his proclivities - there was a young girl staying at the hotel he was creepily attentive to and we were shocked. later - a couple of years down the line I was working to supplement my studies with a friend who got me a part time job in scripts at the BBC - as a lot of people came by the office for stuff and chatted, we got to hear a lot of things - mostly Saville, but also bits about Rolf Harris and lesser known others.

This stuff was common knowledge in many 'showbiz' places - not just the beeb, recording studios, rehearsal rooms etc, but bars in Soho and anywhere TV, music and theatre people hung out. I told my then wife about much of this 20 odd years ago and so neither of us were surprised when the shit hit the fan, or in some cases, when the fans hit the shit.

So why didn't we do anything? Say anything? Well, of course - carefully - some people did - to their bosses, to journos, possibly even to the police but their was always a problem...the burden of clear, directly linkable, untrammeled proof. without that, it was all 'rumour' and conjecture. Added to this was the fact that people like Saville especially were notoriously litigious and would threaten to withdraw from his charities if anyone got too close. He befreinded Thatcher, the famous and powerful and could afford the best QC in the land to defend him with the defendant-friendly British libel laws if it ever came to court - and who would be the underage witnesses willing to be torn to shreds? Even with proof, such was the law the odds were with the defendant - Lord Archer, anyone? 'Is she not fair, is she not fragrant?'.

However...once a person is dead, British libel law does not apply - even the executors of an estate can't sue - and that is why it is all coming out now and people like Harris, DLT and others are getting swept up in the backwash. The failures of a regularly tipped off and libel shy Police are also under scrutiny.

On the subject of reputation and wrongdoing, In England it remains easier for a rich man - however malodorous - to defend himself in court than it is for an ordinary person to secure a conviction against him...and thereby hangs a tale.
