Jordan Klepper is excellent at letting those idiots hang themselves.

I saw him in a bar in Brooklyn once and was very tempted to go up and shake his hand.

It’s very very funny CT, but I don’t know... I don’t think taking the piss out of ‘vulnerable’ people and those of lower intellect, is the right thing to do. Their votes count just the same. These are these are the people we need to get on side. Brexit and the last US election have surely taught us that.

Should have stopped there after events on here this week. I’m now going to spend all day trawlimg through your posting history for examples of you taking the piss out of vulnerable people.

He has hammered the world health organisation on Twitter. The guy is a cunt

The report in the Guardian was drily sarcastic, words to the effect that he threatened to stop funding it, immediately denied he'd said that when a reporter asked if that was sensible during a pandemic, then again threatened to defund it. Dumb cunt.

What I find grimly interesting about Trump is that he's actually a mirror to what's shit about us as a species.

I remember someone describing Hitler once as utterly unremarkable, not especially intelligent, yet he had a predatory sixth sense and instinct of how to appeal to our base instincts as people and rouse a mob. Sound familiar?

One thing he's always been good it as self publicity, he knows how to work the press and via the press how to work the crowd. He's a WWF wrestler in a suit.

Epic.

You have to sell the idea to him.

This is only since the MAGA thing.

One of the main reasons he hates the press is because he was always portrayed as a bit of a boob during his NYC heyday - it is also one of the reasons he has a hard on for Cuomo. He donated money to both Mario and Andrew Cuomo's election campaigns and thought they would worship him. They thought he was a charlatan, then and now.

He was never one of the cool kids, despite his inheritance, and it has eaten away at him.

Trump, a one-time frequent donor to Democrats, is now the nation's top Republican, while Cuomo made his opposition to Trump a key issue in his most recent reelection.
"Mr. Trump, I've known you for 30 years," Cuomo said during the run. "You may be a slick salesman who fooled many people in this country. But you didn't fool me."

I've read a few things about his early days in New York though that made it sound like him and the press worked hand in glove, he apparently used to phone newsdesks pretending to be someone else with gossip on Trump, they knew it was him but went with it anyway as it was newsworthy. He was like the progenitor of modern 'non celebrity'. The posh and Becks of his time, famous for fame's sake, but that in itself surely required some level of skill on his part? Or at least an instinctive understanding of how to market yourself in a flawed news society.

Notoriety is different than fame though, like fear to respect - he was never taken seriously much less respected. The coverage you are talking about were all like Page 6 articles in the Murdoch NY Post.

This from one of the page 6 writers:

Also, Trump was so outrageous—and outrageously tacky—it was a constant temptation to write about his antics, particularly because he thought he was the height of sophistication.
