Apologies.

Man up ya sissy or next time you drink lunchtime have a few cherrys/ rasberrys in your lager like the southern softies !!!

Ive gone past caring about that snidey fucking rat, hes made his bed let him lie in it, as for Carroll he will be a fucking terrific signing ive got no doubt about that and Suarez will be just as good, those two are gonna tear defences a new asshole.... yes its silly money to pay that for Carroll but if its good enough for the king to single him out and want him to be our new number 9 thats good enough for me, you'll be eating your words mate and I would probably bet that you hope so too.

Of course I do mate.

However I think £35m could have been spent much more wisely benefiting the team as a whole. For the ridiculous amount we wasted on Carroll we could have bought two attacking players. Two players we are still lacking to get the best out of the lump.

I am a southern softy (Bristol) and was out with my ol fella on exhibition cider.

You reckon?

I hope and pray I'm wrong. Won't be the first time and it certainly won't be the last.

:) He's got all the basic attributes to turn into a great player. Including one that cannot be overstated here - youth.

We're all nervous - the transfer fee was comically huge, but there is a good chance that he will after a year or so look good value for the outlay.

I don't see it.

It is a criminal waste of money in my opinion.

I hope to fuck I am wrong and look forward to everyone bumping this thread.

How many teams go out and buy 4 or 5 player in January? It would be suicide just throwing a whole new, strange set of players together and hope it works. The summer is the time for major surgery when you have time to mould the team and let them get use to each other. The only reason we bought Carroll was because of Torres being a Cunt, that's the sole reason we got screwed on the price.

We allegedly tried to get other signings in but once shithead decided he wants to go we had to prioritise replacing him seens we had just bought someone who was supposed to play behind him. I'm happy with everything the club done because I'd rather the club overspend and get there man then lose out when Utd or Spurs come in.

It's a gamble but we didn't really have a choice.

no-one does that stuff here. We all make mistakes, and no-one gets any joy from pointing out the errors of others.

Eh?

I don't remember bumping my 'Hodgson is a patsy' thread when he was sacked.

Of course we all make mistakes, otherwise we'd all agree and this place wouldn't be worth wasting 90% of my working day.

I agree with you, that's why we shouldn't have sold the cunt.

Let's see - you've described him as a thug, a criminal waste of money and a big lump.

I see an irrational dislike developing. Why? Because we've spent a huge amount of money on him? Why does that bother you either way? We tried to sign Adam and Young but deals couldn't be done in time. No doubt we'll try again in the summer. So the money's there, we know that and we can focus on strengthening the rest of the team without the worry of replacing Torres.

Is it mainly because you're pissed off Torres was allowed to leave? The situation seemed impossible, he was determined to leave and we got good money for him. Dalglish was talking to Shearer some months back about Carroll, he's obviously been a long time admirer and has the belief he can do with Carroll what he did with Shearer. The potential is there and it's huge. We've taken a gamble, just like United did with Rooney.

Also, you seem to be forgetting the idea of him teaming up with Suarez. They're both going to share the responsibility of providing a replacement for Torres.

I think it's time to have a little faith. There's always going to be doubts and questions, i just don't think there's room for such negativity.

Nah, negativity breeds negativity. Look at hodgson as a prime example. He'd of stunk the place out for 6 months, and at the minute their's a proper feel good factor about the club that hasn't been there for ages. Fuck him, onwards and upwards.

£35 million is the cost of David Villa ffs - the panic purchase of Carroll is a total waste of money. Pardew and Ashley must have seen Dalglish and the MUG stamped on his forehead from a mile away. Just watch as Carroll is found out by the better Prem defenders and any decent defenders in Europe.

So your problem is with Torres and that whole situation.

That shouldn't blinker your view on the replacements.

We've been rushed yet Dalglish has had his eye on the lad for some time. People were saying Suarez is overpriced. They'd have said the same about Negredo or Aguero or Lukaku.

The money has been reinvested sooner rather than later. That it's been reinvested at all is something we should be very happy about.

We've seen a manager we can trust spend the money on a player he rates.

Alan Shearer finds it "staggering" that Newcastle allowed striker Andy Carroll to leave for Liverpool without bringing in anyone as a replacement on transfer deadline day.

Carroll, 22, joined Liverpool late on Monday for £35million, a British transfer record that was quickly broken when the Merseysiders sold Fernando Torres to Chelsea for a fee believed to be around £50million.

"I'm staggered just like the rest of Newcastle fans," Shearer told BBC Five Live: "I am surprised at how quickly it came along and it's an astonishing amount for a young guy with huge potential."

He added: "It's all right selling your best player, but not getting anyone in to replace him is staggering.

"People are saying that Liverpool have sold Torres, but they have got two guys in for over £50million to replace him. I just hope Newcastle invest some of the £35million in new players at the end of the season.

"I am disappointed as he is Newcastle's best player and their best hope of being successful this season and getting a Europa League place. They would have just been happy to avoid relegation at the start of the season but, mainly because of him, they had a chance of a Europa spot."

But Shearer believes that Carroll will only get better while working with Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish.

"He is a huge loss, he has carried Newcastle at times this season. There are not many players like him," said Shearer. "He is big, strong, very good in the air and has a good left foot. You get that ball in the box and there aren't many that could stop him, but he will be a tremendous asset to Liverpool.

"Having worked with Kenny Dalglish I can tell you he is not only a great man, but a great manager. If anyone can get the best out of him then Kenny will.

"To work with one of the greatest football figures of the last two decades, I know he will learn the tricks of the trade from him and improve."

This is going round in circles.

We could have sold Torres in the summer for the same money, if not more.

That would allow us to properly scout playres/replacements and have them lined up.

We have wasted monet on Carroll that could have benefitted the side elsewhere.

We tried to convince Torres to stay - it obviously wasn't happening.

What if we'd forced him to stay and he'd played with the abject attitude he's been carrying for the past few months. With the fans knowing he tried to force a move through to Chelsea, how long do you think it would be before Anfield turned on him and things got ugly?

Then we'd have a striker who would likely either play without giving a fuck, or wind up sitting on the bench. He has form for putting no effort in if he's unhappy. It would be a depressing spectacle to watch and, in all likelihood, we'd lose him at a reduced fee in the summer, as clubs would know he was worth nothing to us.

We had to let him go imo. Bringing in Carroll for the money we did was a side-effect of the position he put us in.

LFC have been ripped off big time - simples. Frankly this season is a write-off so why the stupid panic buy of Carroll - presently imjured from falling off a casino stool. Remember David Villa cost around the same a Carroll (Villa with 108 goals in 166 games for Valencia). What's Carroll's record by comparison??? LFC HAVE BEEN MUGGED BIG TIME. Not value for money of anything like it. not a good deal
