reminds me of dirk kuyt but with a better touch and a bit more pace

if dirk can score two goals and be hailed as a superstar....

Not to sure about that did you see his touch when he went to intercept that back pass earlier and that goal at old toilet he nearly screwed because of a shite first touch.

Reckon he'd be like an Ebanks-Blake and just not be up to it in the Prem week in week out.

I believe he would be a promising signing for Everton or another premier league team - however from Liverpool's perspective it would be difficult to state with any confidence that he is a better prospect than Ngog, who is 5 years the junior. We also have the likes of Eccelstone, Nemeth and Dalla Valle all in the pipeline.

Comparisons with the likes of Kuyt and Chamokh are just ludicrous at this stage both of whom have significant experience at both champions league and international league - however I think he is a gamble worth taking but not for us we need a more experienced hand.

The Premiership and the two divisions below are littered with the 'bodies' of players who played well at the lower levels but couldn't make it at the top. Look at Jason Scotland, good for Swansea and last year's FA Cup darling, but he hasn't done much at Wigan. Nugent went the same way.

The only way we'll know about Beckford is when we see him plying his trade week in, week out. But history, and the odds, are against him.

He won't make it. Too much of a gobshite, scores a few goals in the third division and thinks he's ready for the Champion's League. Egotastic.

I'd back David Moyes judgement over ours.

So you would trust David Moyes judgement over ours? What a typically half-witted anti-Rafa innuendo! In 18 derbies Moyes has won just 3 and never won at Anfield. He has never won a trophy and been to one final in the whole of his 8 year tenure. World class judgement!!!!!!

Have you forgotten these gems or has the selective memory loss kicked in?

James Beattie

Simon Davies

Andy Van de Meyde

Rodrigo

Anderson da Silva

Per Koldrup

Alex Nyarko

Matteo Ferrari

Nuno Valente

Anthony Gardner

Yakubu

John Ruddy

Lie Tie

Richard Wright

Li Wei Feng

Most of the comments on here are right, Beckford is second rate and if Liverpool would have signed him, Rafa would have been crucified and the Ant Rafa Taliban would have drew first blood, that’s for sure.

Worth a gamble on a free, in my opinion. Can't see his wages being that high either.

I'll hold my hands up here. I wouldn't have been totally opposed to us signing him.

I agree. I think it's highly unlikely he'll be good enough. But free, wages won't be that high. If they realise he's shit, they could off load him in January for 1-2million and in effect the gamble would cost nothing.

He's better at spotting bargains than Rafa, signed the likes of Arteta, Cahill, Saha, Baines for next to nothin , put them in our squad and it would have a lot more depth and maybe even capable of challenging, less than Keane and Aqualani each for all of them.
