  1. Hmmm, according to this football blog Mourinho won't be around much longer, so I can't see them letting him splash the cash on a misfit like Keane. As for would I take him back? Not for £6 million and not for the stupid wages he'll no doubt ask for. He seems to think he's due one last big move but he hasn't managed to play a full Premier Leauge season since 2007/08. He should be taking a pay cut to get first team football, the greedy swine.
  2. The last people you want in the loop in transfer deals would be the media department, otherwise the details of who you want to buy would end up all over Twitter... Obvious rubbish, but pretty funny like you say.
  3. Fantastic screengrab right at the bottom of this football blog. If only someone would give him a proper chance to employ them in the top flight...
  4. Think this is pretty much spot on, I agree that zonal marking requires more organisation than man-marking and that can mean it falls apart in a rather embarrasing manner at times (not that man-marking doesn't have similar flaws.) However, I think one thing man-marking has in its favour is that no one has anywhere to hide. With a zonal system you can argue the toss about someone not being in your zone, or they just moved through the edge of your zone etc, etc. With man-marking it's clear who needs a right good rollicking because they allowed someone a free header.
  5. Sort of reminds me of this story about Shola Ameobi. Rich but thick seems to be a common thread among footballers, I'm surprised they don't get conned out of huge sums on a regular basis.
  6. Remind me, how many players has Hodgson signed? Who assembled the squad he had to pick from? We're certainly going backwards, but that journey didn't start with the sacking of Rafa and the appointment of Hodgson, nor will sacking Hodgson automatically start us back in the right direction. Complicated this football malarky, isn't it?
  7. I'll admit Roy's results have been awful, but to have a go at him for "his apparent lack of signings" is just silly. The last lot weren't going to give him any money and we're, what, six days into this transfer window. In fact, if he'd made any big money signings in Jan that would be a pretty solid sign he wasn't going to get the boot. I've just been reading this Andy Gray blog, which reckons we should stick with him. Personally, I'm not sure. However, if we do get shot the next manager has to get 100% backing no matter what, otherwise the club becomes a joke. So maybe finding the perfect replacement is what's taking so long...
  8. A young coach would be a gamble, Rafa would be suicide. Imagine what the press would say if we went back? Imagine all the scrutiny of last season multiplied by 1,000 times. I'm willing to listen to those who say he shouldn't have gone, but he did and we can't go back, not now.
  9. Just been looking at the "worst" Liverpool kits of all time here. Is it just me or are they not that bad? Certainly better than some of the nightmares donned by a certain club not a million miles away (actually, two clubs thinking about it)
  10. So hang on, if a club wants someone of the payroll, agents basically say "give us some cash or he's not going anywhere". Anyone else think that sounds a little iffy?
  11. If Comolli is any good, he'll bag someone we've never heard of on the cheap and he'll be amazing. As for the type of player, an old fashioned target man may help things, but on the downside that would lead to problems if Torres is out. An all rounder may be best for the short-term, then someone bigger in the summer.
  12. Has anyone had the luxury of seeing many of the Wags around Anfield? Just read this Premier League blog on Liverpool and some of these Wags on there are very impressive. Would not mind bumping into a few of these at games this season. Especially Martin Skrtel's other half. Who is you favourite?
  13. Anyone who needs cheering up ahead of another turgid (it will be) England game, might want to have a read of these funny football headlines. One of thems got a swear in and everything! Just a shame there was no room for Fanni...
  14. Wouldn't want to meet any of the players on this World Cup blog in a dark alley, but that would be quite a team. Not sure how much threat they would pose from crosses though... Think we have to assume Peter Crouch is on the bench....
  15. Some great crazy World Cup moments in this blog here. I remember the Zaire one being recreated on Fantasy Football League years ago. Can anyone think of any good ones that are missing?
  16. Well, if I wasn't already in the mood for the World Cup, I certainly am after watching these great World Cup goal celebrations. Awesome stuff and well worth a look.
  17. It's June, it's grey and the club is in turmoil... This World Cup rude names article cheered me up though, even if it is a bit childish. I just wish Fanni was at the World Cup this year.
  18. Well, as this Liverpool manager prediction blog points out, O'Neill is favourite, but I don't see it myself. A short termish choice to handle things til the club is sold? Kenny himself? As long as it's not Joe Fucking Kinear...
  19. I assume WC stands for World Cup in this case, otherwise that's a pretty big toilet... Be interesting to see how Medjani gets on for Alergia, if indeed he gets on at all. This World Cup preview blog reckons the side could cause problems, England should beat them, but I reckon the Yanks might struggle.
  20. Which wage bills? Squad wage bills or first team wage bills? I would be surprised to learn our fringe players are on substantially less than those at other sides, while first teamers have parity. You can prove anything with statistics. He's right about the uncertainty though... Having said that, things were pretty uncertain even with Rafa in charge...
  21. Had them on Sky Sports News this morning. They look utterly rank. Having said that, SSN also had footage of penguins playing football this morning so I'm not sure what to believe anymore...
  22. Middlesbrough - one half of my family comes from there so I have a soft spot for them. Also quite like Brentford as I used to go to some games whilst I was in London.
  23. What's the worst World Cup foul you can remember? I remember some of these as if they were yesterday. And I wonder if we will have any more incidents at this year's World Cup.
  24. Is Theo Walcott's omission from the England squad a massive shock and is Stephen Warnock's inclusion a surprise? I fear that England could lack pace up front without Walcott.
  25. The quaters for me as well and on pens. I know it's a bit of a standing joke, but I didn't realise how bad at them we are. As this 2010 World Cup blog points out we've only lost one knock out game in a major tournament in the last 20 years, but have suffered five defeats on pens. We'll not win the thing until we learn how to pass and keep the ball, instead of chasing around the pitch to try and get it back.
