NFL Discussion and Fantasy League thread

The fantasy season is a week too long. The final is currently a cripple fight as starters have been pulled by both teams.

Why the Ravens couldn't have just rested Rice and announced that beforehand God only knows. They've really, really fucked me there. Well that and Cam Newton can't score against the worst defense in NFL history.

Yeah I'm screwed. One RB rested completely and 4 yards for Brandon Marshall against the Lions? Bloody hell.

I think Romo will save you. They'll be slinging it all over the shop tonight and even if he throws picks he'll still put up big yardage. This week isn't fitting for a Championship game, we need to reduce the season by a week next year.

The boys from Doganella look set for victory and 7th place, scoring the most points in week 17 than the rest of the league, and also setting a season high team record!

All in all it was not a bad season from the rookie team who were in playoff contention until week 15... considering the awful draft and some really bad trades the coach is happy and is surely in line to pick up the 'Rookie of the Year' award?

As for the season being a week too long!! I don't buy that, we all knew the rules and if your team is not set up to cope with the possible absentees then that's no one else's fault....

Anyway, thanks to everyone for playing, I really enjoyed the competition and look forward to next year! :)

Wow! Luck and my Colts with an insane turnaround against the Lions. 2TDs in the last 3 minutes of the game to win 35-33. Peytonesque clutch play from Luck there, after being harassed and intercepted throughout the first 90 % of the game.

Definite Wild Card now, and could be making problems for a lot of the other teams, especially indoors.

The Superdome, duh?

Got to get through Broncos,Pats and Texans first.

Really pissed off about the season as its looking more likely that the NFL case against the Saints players may not hold in the courts but even if the players get the suspension nullified its still fucked our season and the chance to play a home superbowl.

Yeah, I really don't have any hopes for the playoffs, think Broncos will be tough enough. Haven't got enough playmakers, and can't expect Wayne and Luck to play out of their skins everytime. O-line doesn't give good enough protection either. Was really chuffed we got Luck, and even if I still miss Peyton a little (and wish him all the best except when meeting us), I think that feeling will wane pretty quickly if Luck keeps this up...

Broncos. Broncos. Broncos. Broncos. Broncos. Broncos. Broncos. Broncos. Broncos.

Finally! A winning record, first in six years, and back to back AFC West Champs.

So, looks like my Colts will face the Ravens away, and then go to either Denver or New England. Won't be under roof until we get to New Orleans then:whistle:. I think we'll beat Baltimore, but those other two will be tough propositions I'm afraid. Hoping either we or Broncos take out the Pats. Disgrace that Luck was omitted from ProBowl for Schaub (hint of patriotism there).

Disgrace that Luck was omitted from ProBowl for Schaub (hint of patriotism there).

Why?

Schaub has a better completion percentage (64.2-54.3), more TDs (22-21), less INTs (10-18 ), less fumbles (4-10), less fumbles lost (0-5) and a higher rating (92.4-75.6).

As I said, a hint of patriotism there, but the turnaround from 2 wins last year to 11 this year is phenomenal. The Texans are a better team, especially on defense, and I think their offensive line is a lot stronger than ours as well. That makes Luck's performance even more impressive.

Btw, even if his numbers are less spectacular, he's been unbelievably good in the 4th qtr, closing out/turning around game after game. Did you see that pass on 3rd and 23 today. That's the definition of clutch (as well as the definition of bad defence:P).

Too many interceptions though, and I guess that's why he's not there. My only criticism of him too, he's sometimes forcing the play too much (much like the other Manning), taking shots that are not really on. His ability to pass on the move is already top three in the NFL in my opinion, he almost looks better on the move than in the pocket. Really excited about the future now, even if Mathis and Freeney will be big voids to fill in the near future.

Least surprising news: Report: Andy Reid Is Fired by Jeffrey Lurie as Eagles Head Coach | Philadelphia Eagles | NESN.com

Report: Andy Reid Is Fired by Jeffrey Lurie as Eagles Head Coach by Doug Kyed on Sun, Dec 30, 2012 at 5:38PM Comments () inShare Andy ReidThere will be a changing of the guard in Philadelphia. After fourteen years at the helm for Philadelphia, Andy Reid has been fired, according to Reuben Frank of Comcast Sports Net. Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie informed Reid he would not be back for the 2013 season. The Eagles finished the 2012 season 4-12 for their second disappointing season in a row — they finished 2011 8-8 after being deemed “the Dream Team.” Reid brought the Eagles to the playoffs 11 times during his tenure, including five appearances in the NFC Championship Game and one Super Bowl. He is 130-93-1 in his head coaching career. Reid was the longest tenured coach in the NFL. That honor now goes to Bill Belichick.

11 straight wins. 1st round bye. Number 1 seed in the AFC. The road to the Super Bowl goes through Denver. Remarkable regular season for my Broncos. I'd be lying if I said I wanted any part of the Patriots in the playoffs though. Can live without watching 5-6 yard passes to 5ft white guys over the middle.

Bet the Packers will murder the Vikings next week.

Not that I'm blaming them for us not making the playoffs. Our shitty offence is responsible for that. And the defence giving up a 97 yard drive to Seattle late on followed by an 80yd drive in OT didn't help either.

We didn't deserve to make it, and having missed the playoffs five of the last six years, I can't see Lovie surviving.

The only reason I can see for keeping him is that if he goes, Urlacher probably goes too and I don't want to see him go out like that. Was hoping his last game would be in the playoffs, as he was almost fit to play tonight but not quite. Would have been back next week if we'd made it.

The season is too long

The championship should not be decided on wether the team rest it's starters or not.

Most leagues finish in week 16 for this reason

I am torn on this matter!

FF is all about US, the managers, picking what we think is the best team, be that in week 1 or week 17.

We all knew the rules...

Yeah we need to take a week off it. I need Romo to put up less than 32 points tonight for my boys to claim the title. Either way the final's been a massive let down because neither team has been at full capacity.

Surely FF reflects the NFL, I am not trying to endorse a week 17 next year, but...

...I set my team up this week to get what I thought was going to get the best result, same as every week! I dont see why the top teams should get a pass just because their star players may not be playing! It's a week to week game, week 1 is the same as week 17 as far as i'm concerned!

Anyway, it was fun! :)

Most leagues and all NFL managed leagues stop week 16. Playing week 17 plays into the hands of those teams that do not have star players in certain positions.Last year Rogers was left out if week 17 game and it could well have cost a team the championship. You can't make enough changes in a league of our size to make it fair.If you are playing in a 8/10 team league then you can get players to fill your bench that will probably play.

The Ravens dropping Flacco,Rice, the Texans have to keep Foster in shows that week 17 is not a level playing field.
