Al Pacino as Shylock. Astounding performance. Made me like Shakespeare.

 

He's really good in that. The Laurence Fishburne version of Othello is ace too.

You know, I'm surprised just how much I enjoyed Avatar. It's a solid 8.75/10 from me.

Valkyrie - 6/10. Bored the tits off me for long periods, lack of German accents was fucking irritating as well.

 

Slumdog Millionaire - 9/10. Definitely worth the hype, very good film.

It's crazy how we all take different things from films. The last two 9/10 films in this thread (Superbad and Slumdog) would have got a 4 and a 6/10 respectively from me.

Sherlock Holmes - 8/10. Downey Jr and Law (!) are both fucking superb. Rachel McAdams would also get a game.

 

Top film, in spite of what it's got going against it. Liverpool also looked quality. Can't believe lots of that was filmed literally down the road from mine.

I've seen it mate, quite recently also, it's brilliant, have you seen A proposition yet ?? it's in that mould, really good.

A serious man 7/10 Oddball Coen Bros movies, interesting and thought provoking but doesn't really get you by the balls

The Men Who Stare at Goats - Decent i thought. Definitely has it moments, had really low expectations too which always helps. McGregor just annoyed with that fucking whiny American accent he does. Just awful. Spacey, Clooney and Bridges though were all good and made it worth watching. 3/5

As cartoons go it was impressive, no pixar but held the attention of 9 children under the age of 10.

Thanks to you Oldboys I watched the film with the tongue scene in it and I give it 8.9 ants out of 10.

Youth in Revolt. 6/10

 

A let down for me. The best thing about the film was Francois Dillenger, actually he was just about the only good thing about the film. The lines ''I want to tickle your bellybutton... from the inside'' and ''I want to wrap your legs around my head and wear you like the crown that you are'' will stick with me for a very long time. Other than that, it was pretty shit.

Invictus. A bit worthy and veers close to sentimentality (similar to Gran Torino) but enjoyable and had a lump in the throat a couple of times. Morgan Freeman did Mandela as well as anyone could. Rugby scenes were all grunts and "ooof"s but still quite exciting. 7 strapping Afrikaaners out of 10.
