One that's stuck in my memory since I started this thread is the theme tune to Skyfall. Adele's ability to make the following rhyme is the stuff of poetic genius:

"Let the sky fall,

when it crumbles"

Crum-balls!

Lucky club singer!

Let the sky-foo

when it crum-boo

This takes some beating, although it could be an anthem for our age given the amount of rampant stupidity around.

Water, fire, air and dirt
Fucking magnets, how do they work?
And I don't wanna talk to a scientist
Y'all motherfuckers lying, and getting me pissed

Cold November Rain

It's like they said to themselves "our lyrics are always shit to begin with, but let's see if we can outshit ourselves". Mission accomplished.

When I look into your eyes
I can see a love restrained
But darlin' when I hold you
Don't you know I feel the same?
Nothin' lasts forever
And we both know hearts can change
And it's hard to hold a candle
In the cold November rain
We've been through this such a long long time
Just tryin' to kill the pain, ooh yeah
Love is always coming, love is always going
No one's really sure who's lettin' go today
Walking away
If we could take the time to lay it on the line
I could rest my head just knowin' that you were mine
All mine
So if you want to love me then darlin' don't refrain
Or I'll just end up walkin' in the cold November rain
Do you need some time on your own?
Do you need some time all alone?
Ooh, everybody needs some time on their own
Ooh, don't you know you need some time all alone
I know it's hard to keep an open heart
When even friends seem out to harm you
But if you could heal a broken heart
Wouldn't time be out to charm you?
Oh, oh, oh
Sometimes I need some time on my own
Sometimes I need some time all alone
Ooh, everybody needs some time on their own
Ooh, don't you know you need some time all alone
And when your fears subside
And shadows still remain, oh yeah
I know that you can love me when there's no one left to blame
So never mind the darkness, we still can find a way
'Cause nothin' lasts forever, even cold November rain
Don't ya think that you need somebody?
Don't ya think that you need someone?
Everybody needs somebody
You're not the only one
You're not the only one
Don't ya think that you need somebody?
Don't ya think that you need someone?
Everybody needs somebody
You're not the only one
You're not the only one
Don't ya think that you need somebody?
Don't ya think that you need someone?
Everybody needs somebody
You're not the only one
You're not the only one
Don't ya think that you need somebody?
Don't ya think that you need someone?
Everybody needs somebody

The fucking Killers feature large as well-

I’m down on my knees, searching for the answer- are we human or are we dancer?

I got soul, but I'm not a soldier

You got the soul of a truck
On a long distance haul
You got the grace of a storm
In the desert

Keep an ear to the shell, keep an ear to the shell
Stay on the path that leads to the well
There are many take the one that leads to the well, rescue rescue
Keep an ear to the shell, keep an ear to the shell

The Cranberries I shot john Lennon ;

“ It was the fearful night of December 8th.
He was returning home from the studio late.
He had perseptively known that it wouldn't be nice.
Because in 1980, he paid the price. “

perseptively ?  Is there evidence john Lennon was a fortune teller ?

Think this was mentioned on the first page, but "Life" by Des'ree is incredibly bad. Sounds like it was written by an eight year old.

I'm afraid of the dark

Especially when I'm in the park

When there's no one else around

Oh I get the shivers

I don't wanna see a ghost

It's the sight that I fear most

I'd rather have a piece of toast

Actually, I think I'm being unfair to eight year olds.

It's surely the song this thread was made for.

She also wrote this so the above is forgiven.

As much as i love New Order, Bernard Sumner's lyrics are pretty woeful...

Your country is a wonderful place
It pales my England into disgrace
To buy a drink that is so much more reasonable
I think I'll go there when it gets seasonable

or...

The sea was very rough
It made me feel sick
But I like that kind of stuff
It beats arithmetic

I dunno. I think we can all relate to

You've caught me at a bad time

So why don't you piss off

There's so many pop songs with stupid lyrics over the years so i wouldnt know where to start.

I was in this shop yesterday though and some ridiculous record was playing, ive no idea who it was but all she said was I wish i was like the cool kids because the cool kids do something or other repeatedly, dreadful.

You keep me running round and round,
Well that's alright with me,
Up and down, I'm up the wall,
I'm up the bloody tree.
Hiding from your questions,
Questions you won't ask.
"Why am I up the tree" you say,
"Why are you down there" I'm saying.

The fuck, how does one hide from a question that hasn't been asked?

Get here by Oleta Adams.

This shit has been stuck in my head again.

"You can get here by caravan, cross the desert like an Arab man".

That's... not good.

I love Paul McCartney and I like the Pipes of Peace Album.

I even like this song but some of the lyrics are beyond shit

I know I was a crazy fool
For treating you the way I did
But something took hold of me
And I acted like a dustbin lid

I didn't give second thought
To what the consequence might be
I really wouldn't be surprised
If you were trying to find another me

The other me would rather be the glad one
The other me would rather play the fool
I want to be the kind of me
That doesn't let you down as a rule

I know it doesn't take a lot
To have a little self-control
But every time that I forgot
Well I landed in another hole

But every time you pull me out
I find it harder not to see
That we can build a better life
If I can try to find the other me

The other me would rather be the glad one
The other me would rather play the fool
I want to be the kind of me
That doesn't let you down as a rule

But if I ever hurt you
Well you know that it's not real
It's no easy living by yourself
So imagine how I feel

I wish that I could take it back
I'd like to make a different mood
And if you let me try again
I'll have a better attitude

Well I know that one and one make two
And that's what I want us to be
I really would appreciate it
If you'd help me find the other me

The other me would rather be the glad one
The other me would rather play the fool
I want to be the kind of me
That doesn't let you down as a rule
