Russia v Ukraine

Russians have only sent in their strike forces so far and have hardly used their heavy artillery or air force.  They're aiming for a walkover without causing too much damage or civilian casualties.  Arming civilians is about the stupidest thing Ukraine could do as it makes them combatants.

It makes them brave patriotic heroic citizens too in my eyes

Easy to say from a keyboard.  Put yourself in their shoes, you don't know how you'd react.  Surely survival instinct kicks in at some point when you're holding the Molotov.

In a surprising turn of events a man who was unwilling to have an injection as he feared a sore arm is unable to understand how someone else may be able to take a principled stand that may cause them to die rather than hide in their mums spare room.

In other news water is wet and cricket is in fact a team sport and not a solo pursuit.

It's about their only chance isn't it? Their military ultimately isn't going to stop the Russians.

If the Ukrainians can turn each city into a meat grinder then there will be a lot of Russian casualties and plenty of pictures of dead patriotic civilians on the internet that will make lots of Russians unhappy.

Turning Russia against Putin is surely the only way they are going to win this, but sadly a lot of people are going to die in doing it.

Ukraine saying Turkey are closing the Bospherous to Russian warships. Turkey are NATO so we’ll see how Putin reacts to ‘interference’ in his little enterprise, given his threats.

I'm really impressed with the way the lads have all ralleyed around, even Orban has been giving it beans.

I'm thinking it might be a while before his tanks get enough fuel for a trip to Turkey.

The civilised World is rooting for Ukraine. Vlad the lunatic has warned off any outside intervention but you wonder where Ukraine is going to get ammo, anti tank and SAMs from to keep fighting.

Why would you wonder that? Even Germany has authorized the sale of 400 RPGs from Netherlands. They can get the supplies via Poland. There is no arms embargo against Ukraine. They apparently have quite extensive in-country manufacturing. They used to provide maintenance service for older Russian equipment to other countries still using it until recently.

Yeah it feels like this is about to get really ugly shortly. I can't do anything other than side with them trying to defend their home against a Russian invasion but this really should have been negotiated to some type of agreement by this point to save lives.
