Smellies

Nah, smellies go about with Iron Maiden, Judas Priest & Metallica t-shirts on.

Sabbath are The Beatles of metal, everyone likes them, mods, rockers and everyone in between.

Blaming them for all the shite they spawned is like blaming The Beatles for Oasis, hardly their fault.

New Order did moody Joy Division stuff and then dancy electronic stuff. That's two things.

Sabbath did metal. That's one thing.

Two is more than one.

In mathematical terms it is, not sure how it puts them on the level of the Sabs though...have a listen to " Laguna Sunrise", " changes" and "who are you".....they had other strings to their bow

Clearly you haven't listened to much Sabbath. They covered about five genres on the Sabbath Bloody Sabbath LP alone.

Close thread.

In the video to Iron Man posted the reasons Ozzy looks like a nark is because his mum took him to the shops to buy some smart clothes, despite not really having any spare money, as he was going to be on TV and she didn’t want him showing the family up.

True story, the day before Ozzy didn’t own shows.

They really were  the most unlikely of geniuses.

I admit I haven't.  On the strength of this thread, I'll probably give it a go.

People see past it because they heard Paranoid and Iron Man, but they were quite radical.

They were openly calling out the governments, racists, inequality but people see the caricature.

Part of the reason they were angry is that the saw their hero’s like Dylan desert them and thought people weren’t calling out injustice enough, even though they couldn’t fully articulate it, they weren’t ‘evil’ they were angry and found a way to channel it.

Both musically and politically they were ‘different’ and in a way that had never been seen before, or surpassed since.

Not bad for ‘four thick brickies from Brum’ as they were lovingly referred to in the Times.

I saw them on their final show at the NEC, unfortunately not with Bill Ward, but they were fucking incredible. It all just welded together and it reminded you that they started all the metal and down tuning that came after it was jaw dropping. I've seen Osborne many times outside of Sabbath, but with Iommi and Butler they are unstoppable.
