Budapest. That place is about 3.5 hours drive from us. Vienna is less than 2 hours and the advent markets are great but massively overcrowded

I went to the 1989 Grand Prix at the Hungaroring.

My relatives live 45 minutes from the Hungarian border in Croatia.

My recipe was passed down from an old family friend in Subotica, right on the Hungarian border.

It's my dinner party staple for hungry anglo-saxons.

 

Anything to do with goose is boss.

Great dinner party food. I sometimes use a bit of Spanish smoked paprika to add another flavour but it can upset the local traditionalists.

 

Subotica is a lovely place, we often stay with friends in Szeged and make a trip over the border for the day

Yeah, I've used the smoked once or twice... but never in front of the family!!!

indeed we are.  Stay away from those blasted Christmas markets with their half-arsed bonhomie, the cast-off tat, and the ever present danger that someone might throw up on your shoes, frighten the kids or pick your pocket.  Merry Christmas!
