Good news for Charlie Adam, probably bad news for Jordan Henderson and Andy Carroll.

Rodgers will lnow Steve Clarke from Chelsea I guess?

Rodgers likes to keep possession, press the ball and there players to things quick and simple. In what sense is that good news for Charlie Adam?!

My take?

After reading up Swansea stats and whats being said about him, I can honestly say that even though I am bit underwhelmed, I don´t think we could of done any better with the criteria that FSG have set.

We need a change, a new direction and a new ethos that suits The Liverpool Way. If people just take the time to read up on the links I have posted then they will feel differently about this appointment.

Behind him all the way.

why are people so convinved it was "champions league or else"

I think Kenny went because we were nowhere near the champions league, if we'd have challenged for it and narrowly missed out he would still be here imo

From the financial report published a few weeks back. Under non-financial key performance indicators on page 2. The only other two were "attendance vs capacity" and "performance of all squads".

Cos he was going to watch Suarez since Rafa was in charge.

He might have went to watch him. I have no idea about that. How that equals him talking to Suarez therefore Suarez knowing Dalglish's credentials etc I also have no idea. There will have been a lot of people watching Suarez.

I don't think it's ridiculous to suggest a young lad who grew up in Uruguay and played football in Holland would not know who Dalglish was.

I'd wait to hear what comes out about Martinez before I'd start saying they've played a blinder. I also want to know what's happening with the DoF roles they were splitting. I'm still hoping for Van Gaal. If they've abandoned that idea after announcing it with such relish via Ayre, I'd like to know why they u-turned so suddenly, as that seems like weak rather than strong management - abandoning the philosophy they were keen to implement. I'm happier with Rodgers than Martinez. Would still like an older/experienced hand as guidance.

Yes I would guess Charlie may be a casualty.

Wonder if there is any intention to bring any Swansea players with him?

hijacking the Sigurdsson move would be a good one imo, other than that there aren't many I imagine he'd want here, Dyer and/or Sinclair maybe, and Danny Graham would be good as a 3rd striker but they'll want far more than he is worth

If he plays a high line and likes to press, then Lucas is the man at CDM. Thinking about it, Lucas will need players around him with pace that like to pass i.e. Hendo or Jonjo. Aquilani might even be that player.

If so I see us playing a 4-1-2-1-2 or a 4-3-1-2 (defensive). I dont think we have the players for a straight up 4-3-3.

Huge gamble , hopefully it works.

My mate said about 3-4 months ago about him going to Spurs and i said to him 1 good season is to much of a gamble you have to let him get on with it at Swansea and see how he develops , so much for that.

Cant believe hes going to be our manager but ill support him , he better not slurp that piss heads balls in anyway though , he seems a clever bloke so should know better.

Martinez has a better cv as he has kept Wigan in the prem for 3 years on a loe budget while Rodgers has had a couple of good seasons at Swansea carrying on the philosophy Martinez built there.Phil brown had 1 good season in the prem and even Lambert looks better with what he has done at Norwich.

Rafa,Avb and Capello were availible but it looks like fsg have gone for a manager who will be a yes man for whoever dof is.

Rodgers out 18 months at most another few years without champs league.

I was skeptical about your reply, then I saw the bit in bold.

Your opinion mind you but this is the sort of knee reaction that we could do without, especially with a young manager that has the potential to become really good.

But that's just my problem. We're interested in him on the basis that he might be able to perform at a big club in the same way as at a small one. I'd prefer someone with a bit more track record under pressure.

Would I be more comfortable with a more established manager? Sure.

But oddly enough after reading up on the guy I find myself oddly excited. He seems to know his stuff and sticks to his guns whilst playing good football.

Its a gamble, but it might be worth taking a new direction.

The benefit outweighs the risk here.
