You watch a lot of Norwegian football then? Because he was nothing but impressive during the WC. I like the look of Asamoah too though. Someone is doing something right at Udinese in terms of their scouting that's for sure.

 

Thought Annan looked relatively ordinary in the World Cup. Kept it simple and tidy, which is the opposite of what we want, and it's what Lucas does pretty well, so it would be a pointless signing. Nothing that made him stand out and look good enough for us, in my opinion. Plus, going from what some of the Norwegian lads off here have said, and a few of the Scandanavian footy folks on twitter who will have seen him play a lot more than most of us, they think he's nothing special either.

 

Just think he'd be a waste of money going from what little I've seen of him, and going from the opinion of those who have seen a lot more of him, they seem to think he's not good enough to play for a top club.

I totally disagree... I thought Annan was very skilled and moved the ball very well, and with real vision. He wasn't throwing around long passes with precision like Alonso, but I thought he his passing was VERY underrated.

Completely agree with you. I was also impressed with Annan. He showed good anticipation when the opposition attacked and broke them down well. He picked the right pass and hardly gave the ball away the whole tournament. He also handled the physical side well and didn't seem phased when under pressure. If he performs that consistently at club level I would be more than happy at his signing.

 

He and Diego Perez of Uruguay were the two DM's that most impressed me.

Lassana Diarra has not got the dicipline nor the nous to play in that sitting role.

Anthony Annan plays that position for Rosenborg and Ghana and according to Norwegian reports could be for sale for around £4m

 

I don't get why people suddenly are rating the likes of Muntari and L.Diarra when they've been calling them shit previously. Wouldn't be able to afford them either.

 

I've never called Lassana Diarra shit. Muntari I dont have an opinion on as I havent seen much of him.

 

I would like to think we arent going to play somebody on our centre backs toes this season. Diarra is a better player than Mascherano, period. Mascherano is a great tackler and runs all day but Diarra has more quality and would improve our style of play.

 

Come on Mr Benitez. Make your last donation to Merseyside £25-30m to take this sulking Argie off our hands.

A whole load of speculation linking him with us in today's papers. Apparently our scouts were watching him for Standard Liege last night. A deal in the region of 10-12 million sounds like a fair price to me. He's been linked with a lot of top European clubs in the past, but I think that this one is really gonna happen for the lad. Could be an excellent signing. What are your thought on him?

He's not at all a direct replacement for Masch, but that's not necessarily needed. In about 75% of league games, Mascherano wasn't badly required. Oh, he was good insurance, but against the likes of Wigan, Wolves, West Brom etc, it should be enough to have good midfield players who are positionally sound.

 

It would be another great coup if we signed him.

If you overlook the fact Poulsen is shit - he's also 30. Oh and shit.

 

If it were a choice between the two of them - we would be insane to go for Poulsen.

 

If Defour wants to come here - and we can get him for £10-15m, its a no-brainer.
