The Merseysiders also want to restore some of the club's old-fashioned, dignified values after a turbulent few seasons.

HODGSON: Reds stars agree with his appointment

By Chris Bascombe

ROY HODGSON'S appointment as Liverpool boss will get the thumbs-up from the Kop's stars.

Fernando Torres, Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher have their minds on the World Cup, but will back the arrival of the current Fulham manager.

Any quotes/sources to back that up, by any chance? Thought not.

ROY HODGSON'S appointment as Liverpool boss will get the thumbs-up from the Kop's stars.

Fernando Torres, Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher have their minds on the World Cup, but will back the arrival of the current Fulham manager.

Liverpool players not at the tournament return to pre-season training this Friday, by which time Hodgson's appointment should be formally announced.

But he will still face crunch talks with Torres and skipper Gerrard after the World Cup.

Both will want to know his transfer plans and how he intends to ensure that Liverpool become a major force again.

They have made it clear they will consider all their options when they return from South Africa next month.

The misery of the last 12 months, the failures of the last regime and the uncertainty at ownership level have made their futures uncertain.

But Hodgson's appointment will not add to their doubts - club sources believe he is as likely as anyone to retain the services of Gerrard and Torres.

The Merseysiders also want to restore some of the club's old-fashioned, dignified values after a turbulent few seasons.

And it is believed that will only happen when owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett sell up.

A new low for a journalist whose time is shortly up.

In the sense that he's now widely recognised (within the industry) as having no credible sources on matters relating to Liverpool Football Club. (Even that rag expects better than the dross he writes.)

and he's a cunt for even considering going to that shit rag

Who is he talking about? He can't be talking about the hierarchy because, with the exception of Dalglish, they are not Liverpool football club and couldn't begin to understand what that entails.

And for my own curiosity, how do "crunch" talks differ from "showdown" talks? Are there any other such talks we should be aware of?

It reeks of the same bollocks as the player power rumours that they claimed saw Benitez out. Only for Balague to come out saying he'd spoken with some of the players, who made it clear there was no player mutiny.

Any money, the players really aren't impressed with Roy, this is more bullshit from the media, possibly board-room leaks to manipulate the fans more? The same leaks that informed us of Benitez and Gerrard despising each other, yet no evidence of this, that informed us of Benitez's contract clauses etc.

So much wrong with the running of this club, and with the appointment of Hodgson it's going to get worse, as it shows no intent for Tom and George to sell up and leave/
