Due out on November 16th 2010.

The next installment in the Assassin's Creed series sees you take control of Ezio once more. Set just after the events of Assassin's Creed 2, this game sees Ezio, now leader of the Assassin Order, taking the fight to Rome and Cesare Borgia, the son of the previous antagonist and new leader of the Templar Order. Old friends such as Leonardo Da Vinci, Niccolo Machiavelli and Caterina Sforza will return to help Ezio. Also, as the leader of the order, Ezio will now be able to recruit and train assassins who will help him during missions.

The fighting system has been changed, although not given the complete overhaul that some were asking for. Now you will be rewarded for taking the initiative and attacking first, rather than waiting for an opening. There are also many more ways to dispatch your opponents and a variety of new weapons and gadgets including the fabled crossbow.

Now for the big news. Multiplayer!

In Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood players will be able to play online as Templars in training, dropped into the animus to hunt and kill each other, as well as other game modes as yet unrevealed.

As usual you can expect the graphics equivalent of porn from this game. However the physics has been given a slight overhaul, which will see things like ragdolls behaving much more realistically.

Yeah I wouldn't even bother with the first one. Maybe to get yourself to grips with the story which does continue through from 1 to 2, but other than that it is far short of the second one and not really worth playing while the second one exists.

Will I have needed to have played the first and second game for me to enjoy this one because it looks amazing!

I don't think you would need to play the first one, but playing this without having at least played the second would be a schoolboy. It is a direct sequel. It would be like seeing Terminator 2 before seing The Terminator. There are characters who you wouldn't know who they are that were introduced and fleshed out in 2.

Buy 2 first. It's a stunning game.

That's a good point that, Dan. It does introduce you to the mythology etc; so, in that sense, it'd probably be a good idea to play the first one.

The second one is an absolute class apart from the first one, though.

Is this game officially "number 3" ?? Or will this serve as something akin to the Episodes From Liberty City on GTA?

Just pre-ordered this for £32.85 from ShopTo.Net. You also get the BETA code which allows you to play the multiplayer BETA when it goes live on Monday. Have a read up and a look at the video of the multiplayer on the ShopTo site:

ShopTo.Net - Assassins Creed Brotherhood With BETA Access Code - Sony PlayStation 3 (PS3)

Just a word on ShopTo, a mate of mine in work orders all his pre-orders from them, he got the new Halo game on the Saturday before its release on the Monday, and he got Fifa delivered today, again two days before its official release date. Go and get some.

AC 2 is the best game for PS3 in my opinion. Outstanding game and underrated in comparison to some games which get more plaudits. Can't wait for this!

Uncharted 2 dude. Amazing game, brilliant story.

I'm a PSN+ bod and i've played the multiplayer beta (so far only the one where your pitted against other assassins) and I have to say, so far it's been pretty wank.

Don't get me wrong, the finished article will probably be the bollocks if your a fan of the series but the multiplayer left me distinctly unimpressed.

Another word on Shopto, ordered Resident Evil 5 from them and a week later someone used my bank details to pay off fines in Kensington and somewhere else in London. Hadn't used my card anywhere else for a week previously and it turns out Shopto have form for that happening.

Cheers for the warning RK, I'll keep a close eye on my credit card account. My mate has been using them for ages though and swears by them and says he has had no issues.

From reading up on them from HotUkDeals, it's an issue that may be resolved now but it was quite a frequent occurance about 12 months ago. I haven't used them since though, not worth it for me now.

Anyone who pre ordered this had their BETA code emailed to them yet?

I've not seen head nor tail of mine yet, and the BETA period has started for this.

Seen a couple of Youtube videos of this earlier. One was an introductory level, the other was the Free For All game mode equivalent for this game, Wanted.

Looks good, looking forward to seeing team modes and how things pan out when playing as a team.
