Free Word to PDF converter

You should be able to convert word docs to PDF using Word and Adobe Acrobat.

Save your word doc as HTML, open said HTML doc in Adobe Acrobat and then save as PDF. This won't work if you only have Adobe Reader, you need Acrobat to save as PDF.

I used pdf995 (its free of course) recently and found that it was alright. Not sure of others but I've tried some horrible converters (can't remember the names).

Yup, that's what I use. It's only a few dollars to get the annoying ads to go away as well.

If you've got full-on Acrobat installed you can set it up as a printer, and turn anything you can print into a PDF.

But now that these Swedes have got all wary of piracy, Acrobat isn't free there any more.

So it seems.

I have full Acrobat at work, but only reader at home. Cutepdf is excellent though, so i am happy.

A quick question while we are on the subject as PDF's.

I have a load of PDF files I want to merge to a single PDF document. I created them as PDF's from a mixture of open office and word documents and it would be a ballache, high memory and time consuming exercise to go back to source, so I want to circumvent that if possible.

How could I do this without adobe writer? is there a way? preferably a simple and with no cost way?

There's a program called Scansoft PDF Create which does that. I don't know if it's free, but if you e-mail them to me, I can merge them for you at work tomorrow.
