Odris, cheers for the advice. I've set up Alt Binz and registered at Merlin and all's cool. Do you know if these work abroad? Should I be trying a different server name than the virgin one? I've got everything set up and it looks fine but it just won't connect for some reason. All the servers are flicking around like crazy at the bottom of the screen but not catching hold of anything.

That usually indicates that the file is older than 7 days, that is is you are using Virgin Media's server.

I signed up for astraweb.com account

 

downloaded altbinz downloaded the 38000 groups, but what the hell I do now I HAVE NO IDEA. Nothing happened when i searched for anything. tried 2012 or potter but no idea what the heck I need to do.

well you shouldn't search for copyrighted material...that's where you're going wrong.

 

try searching for non-copyrighted materials on here... Binsearch -- Usenet search engine

 

tick what you want to download, click create nzb and the file will be imported into altbinz and should start downloading

what does nothing? after you click create nzb you get the open or save dialogue and the option should be open with altbinz....

 

does it then import it into altbinz or is that where it ends?

I got a firefox box on what to do with file, then told that to go to altbinz.

Guess firewall is blocking it. ??

Yes Merlins Portal is down and they don't know when it will be back, last time it went offline and came back they lost 3 months of data because they didn't back up often enough, noobs.

Thanks mate have used this site in the past and its got a decent selection, but they don't allow you to use chrome:wallbutt:, which is my preferred browser
