6 Sri Lankan players injured in the shootout by 12 terrorists on there bus. 2 apparently shot in the chest and Sangakara shot in the shoulder. Vaas, Jayawardene, and Mendis amongst those Injured.

1 Umpire also shot, and 5 policemen dead.

Absolute carnage and a massive setback for cricket in Pakistan. Any hopes of teams touring there are now finished for a long time.

Provisional reports saying its the same group involved in the Mumbai shootings.

Whereabouts are you Mukky?

We've got 2 taken to hospital - Tharanga Paranavitana and Thilan Samaraweera - and Jayawardena was also slightly wounded in the foot, but all the players are pretty much ok (no danger of death or anything). But 6 coppers dead. Nothing about umpires, as obviously it was the Sri Lankan team bus.

Still, you're right, not good for cricket, Pakistan or cricket in Pakistan.

Nobody is going to tour Pakistan for a long time now after that! Some teams will even have reservations about the touring the sub continent!

Horrible news thanks god there is no deaths!

6 policeman dead! :|

It seems it was a highly co-ordinated attack and the footage of two of them taking shots at vehicles is fucking unbelievable. They all got away too. This has got potentially huge ramifications for world cricket - not least the IPL - in my view.

In dubai mate.

One of the 4th Umpires is in critical condition and the rest of the officials are being flown back to Abu Dhabi with minor injuries. The driver of there van was killed, which is how close they came.

One of the lankan bowlers (Samaraweera) got shot in the leg.

You could be right in regards to the ramifications. The financial lure could offset it though, espcially as after the Mumbai shootings the England team were still willing to tour and the Australians touring India a month later after pulling out of touring Pakistan. However, I do think it will change the dynamics of teams touring the subcontinent in general.
